🌟 Award Win 🌟 A state-of-the-art recycling centre constructed by Farrans for client Bath & North East Somerset Council has won a RICS South West award in the Public Sector category. Keynsham Recycling Hub is a modern facility offering a range of services that have made it easier for residents to recycle and help reduce general waste and operational costs. The four-hectare site includes a reuse shop for people to donate pre-loved items for resale and an MOT and Servicing Centre. This project, along with the four other winning South West projects, will now compete at national level, having been shortlisted for the RICS Awards Grand Final taking place in The Park Plaza Riverbank, London, in October. It's been a busy time on site for the team building the new head office for our client, Unusual Rigging. Since our last update, we have air-tested the building and achieved a fantastic 1.00 air permeability rating. The bulk of the dry lining is due to be completed next week, with some areas already mist coated. Mechanical and electrical installation works have commenced, and the external works will begin in a week's time. With sustainability at the core of this project, the team are trialling a new ‘non-gypsum based’ wall board known as ‘Breathaboard’, which has been produced by ADAPTAVATE . ⭐ PROJECT COMPLETION ⭐ Working in collaboration with Kier Construction, Briggs & Forrester Engineering Services have successfully completed the £5.5m package for the design and installation of building services on the new Winterstoke Hundred Academy in Weston Super Mare. The £30m project, constructed on a new site at Locking Parklands, is North Somerset’s first Net Zero Carbon in Operation (NZCiO) school. The building has been carefully designed to meet rigorous environmental standards making it the first NZCiO school in the region. 🌎🍃 Securing a BREEAM Excellent rating for energy efficiency and 35% biodiversity net gain, the 80,000m2 academy also features solar panels on the roof to generate electricity in the classrooms and send power to the national grid, providing green energy for the community. The new three storey facility will house up to 900 students, with future expansion plans to accommodate up to 1,200 students.
