As the colder, drier months roll in, fire risks increase. Make sure your team is ready! Clear away dry leaves and debris that can fuel fires, check heating equipment for safety, and ensure all fire extinguishers are in working order. When entering a confined space, you need the right Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to keep yourself safe. Start with a helmet to protect against head injuries, gloves for hand protection, and a high-quality respirator to guard against harmful gases. A harness is essential if there’s a risk of falling or for rescue in an emergency. Without the proper gear, the risks skyrocket—so make sure you’re fully equipped every time!

Confined spaces can be deceptive—they may look simple, but they often hide serious hazards. Lack of oxygen, toxic gases, and risks of fire are just a few of the dangers that can appear quickly and without warning. Before entering, always ensure proper ventilation, monitor air quality continuously, and be aware of the specific risks of the space you're working in Staying informed and cautious is key to working safely in these environments.

Working on sloped surfaces comes with added risks, but you can prevent slips, trips, and falls with the right techniques and equipment. Always wear non-slip footwear, use proper fall protection gear like harnesses and guardrails, and ensure the ground is stable and clear of obstacles. Use equipment like stabilisers and secure footing to keep machinery and tools steady.
