Bringing the life science and drug discovery communities together to learn, share, connect, innovate and collaborate.
About us
The European Laboratory Research and Innovation Group UK (ELRIG) is a not for profit company whose purpose is to bring the life science and drug discovery communities together to learn, share, connect, innovate and collaborate. We achieve this through the provision of world class conferences, networking events, webinars and digital content. Our values are to always ensure the highest quality of content and that content will be made readily accessible to all, and that we will always be an inclusive organisation, serving a diverse scientific community. In addition, ELRIG will always be a volunteer led organisation, run by the life sciences community, for the life sciences community, on a not for profit basis. ELRIG has evolved from the Laboratory Robotics Interest Groups set up in North America in the early 2000’s, and has become an independent commercial enterprise, with no major benefactors nor significant funding from a single source. Instead ELRIG depends on key partners to provide rent-free venues and the vendor community to purchase sponsorship opportunities at its events. ELRIG is unique in that it considers vendors to be very much part of the life science community and incorporates presentations on their innovations into its podium programming. Led by a board of volunteers, and run by a small team of employees, ELRIG successfully hosts at least 5 conferences and 5 networking events per year, which bring together world class speakers, that present the latest research and innovation from their laboratories. Events vary in size from 40 attendees at our tier 2 events (primarily networking or webinars), to 300 plus attendees at our tier 1 events (primarily 1 to 2 day conferences), to greater than 1500 attendees at our flag ship Drug Discovery meeting. All these events are run as free-to-attend, with speaker expenses and delegate subsistence paid for by ELRIG, which is only possible due to the support of its sponsors.

We’re delighted to invite you to our Drug Discovery forum in Paris to discuss the latest advancements in single cell genomics. 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 - https://lnkd.in/enEA8GuS There are no hidden membership costs Join us on 3rd December at Institut Imagine, Paris with our Forum Directors Thomas Edmonds and Jarrod Walsh Event Overview: 𝗗𝗿𝘂𝗴 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀 – 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰𝘀 The human body is composed of trillions of cells containing nearly identical genomes. However, the myriad of controlling factors that govern genomic regulation mean they can take on unique and distinct states and roles. Abnormalities in the genomes or the factors that control their behaviour can result in heterogeneity of cell populations and contribute to disease states. The maturation of single-cell technologies is making it increasingly possible to interrogate this heterogeneity and tease apart the resulting molecular mechanisms that drive disease phenotypes. This Forum will explore the latest research enabling single-cell genomics technologies and the impacts they are contributing in our understanding and treatment of disease. We are delighted to bring you this event within partnership with ELRIGfr - Association d’experts pour la robotique de laboratoire FORUM PARTNER: Hamilton Company If you have any questions about this event please pop them in the comments below and if you think you know anyone who might be interested in joining us there, please tag them. Kirsty Smitten won the Early Career Professional Impact Award at Research & Innovation 2021 for her pioneering work on antimicrobial compounds. In honour of her remarkable contributions and inspiring spirit, we’ve renamed our ECP Impact Award to the "Kirsty Smitten Award." Kirsty was a strong proponent of self-improvement, and was keen to inspire others to seize opportunities for personal growth. We hope this award inspires early career professionals to follow in her footsteps and carry on her legacy.
Today marks the first anniversary of the passing of our late CEO, Dr Kirsty Smitten. It is our privilege to share the previously unseen linked-video, in which Kirsty explained in her own words the story behind MetalloBio, and how she was motivated to make the world a better place for people suffering from untreatable infections. https://lnkd.in/eye3ek7k
