Actively Improving Lives by working with partners to reduce inactivity
About us
Energize is the Active Partnership for Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin. We are a local charity and one of 43 organisations within the Active Partnerships network who work collaboratively with local and national partners to create the conditions for an active nation using the power of sport and physical activity to transform lives. Our purpose is...to improve quality of life through the benefits of physical activity. And our ambition is... to eliminate inactivity. We are a system partner of Sport England and funded by them as part of their 10 year strategy 'Uniting The Movement'. Our aim within this strategy is to work locally to influence system change in systems such as Health, Social care, Education and ultimately to eliminate inactivity. 🔎 Today is International Women’s Day! How can we #AccelerateAction for gender equality? At the current rate of progress globally, full gender parity won’t be reached until 2158 - that’s five generations too long. This year’s theme, #AccelerateAction, calls on all of us to take stronger, faster action to break down systemic barriers, challenge biases, and drive meaningful change. At Energize STW, we are committed to championing inclusion and equity, ensuring women and girls have the same opportunities to be active, lead, and thrive. 💜 Pictured here are the female members of the Energize STW team and our Board of Trustees, who are dedicated to making a positive impact. Let’s come together, take action, and create a future where gender equity is a reality, not a distant goal. 📢 How can we #AccelerateAction together? #IWD2025 #GenderEquity #EnergizeSTW #Shropshire #Telford #TelfordWrekin

💡 How movement is transforming patient recovery at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital Energize STW, in collaboration with The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH), recently completed a three-month pilot study – Supporting Health Through Movement. 🩺 Why does it matter? Hospital-Associated Deconditioning (HAD) can dramatically impact recovery, with just 10 days in bed equating to 10 years of muscle ageing for patients aged 80+. Our goal was to reduce falls risk, improve mobility, and support smoother transitions from hospital to home. 🚀 What we did: ✔ Delivered in-person and online education for ward staff ✔ Provided simple but effective movement-based interventions for patients ✔ Introduced tools like resistance bands and hand putty to build strength 👥 The impact? Hospital staff embraced the initiative, and patients benefitted from increased movement during their stay. 🔎 Read more about this exciting work: https://lnkd.in/eteyUc9J #SupportingHealthThroughMovement #Healthcare #FallsPrevention #ActiveHospitals #LiveLongerBetter #HospitalPatients #ActiveRecovery The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust NHS England Active Partnerships Shropshire Council
