“It pays to consume content like a fan to understand the content your audience are watching & engaging with.” Great insights from our Head of Audience Dev & Strategy, Oliver on the Barclaysmen trend. 👇🏼 #socialmedia #sportsmarketing

Let's talk about the Barclaysmen trend... ⚽️📈 The story of how a viral trend among sports teams started and what we can learn from it 👇 If you remotely follow English football, your timeline will have been full of these edits in the past 72 hours, with teams & creators putting highlights of cult heroes with (usually) indie music from that time. While the content itself around the player would have performed well on its own, the addition of the music from the time struck a chord with fans, unlocking an element of nostalgia and the 'good old days'. With the competition back then sponsored by Barclays, the trend of 'Barclaysmen' began to take off among creators and teams. Icons from yesteryears such as Rory Delap, Chris Brunt & Morten Gamst Pedersen were being revived - while being accompanied by the likes of Razorlight & Kate Nash. With the trend originating from creator & compilation accounts on social media, it pays to consume content like a fan to understand the content your audience are watching & engaging with. In the era of short-form content and decreasing attention spans, it speaks volumes that a longer-form trend managed to engage fans. Could we be witnessing a renaissance for compilations and hero edits for players? Or is it a trend that will just fizzle out? #Barclaysmen #PremierLeague #Sportsmarketing #socialmedia

Celebrating a new chapter in football esports with the FIFAe Next Gen event! 🎮   The first multi title esports event hosted by FIFAe took place earlier this month and showcased a new era by integrating different communities into one big celebration of football esports in Liverpool.   The FIFAe World Cup featuring Football Manager took centre stage at the event, with 20 players from around the world taking part in the inaugural event which was livestreamed on FIFAe’s digital channels alongside co-streamers. Football legends John Terry, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbank and Sam Allardyce were in attendance, adding an extra layer of excitement to the occasion.   Christian Volk, Director of eFootball and Gaming at FIFA, said: “The FIFAe Next Gen event represents an important step forward in our ambition to develop the wider football esports landscape, bringing together passionate communities and showcasing titles like Football Manager and eFootball. With Liverpool's rich football heritage and cutting-edge facilities, it was the ideal choice to host the event, and the city has truly excelled in its role.”

With just two weeks until the 2024-25 National Basketball League (NBL) season kicked off, we looked at the 9,000+ videos posted by teams across social media last season and who dominated each platform 👇🏀 📈 Melbourne United Basketball Club led the way in terms of overall volumes, publishing 25% more uploads than any other team across all platforms combined. 📺 While Melbourne United's upload volumes on YouTube were double that of any other team, Illawarra Hawks Basketball led the way in terms of average engagement/video, led by a high YT Shorts approach 💙 Adelaide 36ers bossed Instagram & TikTok, leaning into the latter by developing a TikTok content strategy through the use of filters especially that yielded significant views & engagement from outside of the NBL fanbase ❤️ Perth Wildcats' video content produced high levels of engagement, despite not having high volumes - highlighting that a high-upload strategy is not always best practice. 🩷 BNZ Breakers' high-upload approach on TikTok pays off with high levels of engagement on their content What can we expect to see in 2024? Will teams diversify platform strategy and increase volumes on the likes of YouTube & TikTok? #NBL #Basketball #SportsMarketing #Australia Engage Digital Partners

It’s tough standing by when a close mate goes through such a life-changing experience like Kish Modi has. Kish is tackling his battle with leukaemia unlike many others. He is using his experience to raise awareness for Blood Cancer and is also endeavouring to fundraise $100k in the process. To help with Kish’s great cause, I’ll be running ‘The Bloody 24’… 24 laps of the Bay Run in Sydney in 24 hours, on November 1 and 2. Hopefully everyone can come over for a lap or 24 as I’m sure I’ll need the company! To donate click the link 🩸 https://lnkd.in/dc_M-XBm Leukaemia Foundation
