A few weeks ago I had the pleasure to deliver a seminar at the University of Strathclyde European Policies Research Centre in which I had the opportunity to reflect on my five years (3 as a secondment) of collaboration with the The Scottish Government in the field of island policy. In the talk, titled "Island Policy: What Does it Mean and How to do it Well?", I argue that the four key ingredients for good island policy are: 1) trust and confidence; 2) data and indicators; 3) strategic clarity; and 4) budget and additionality At the talk I also announced that the Strathclyde Law School has been asked to act as Secretariat of the recently established European Islands Policy Network, which brings together Croatia, Finland, Ireland and Scotland.
