Equity had the pleasure of attending the inaugural Flint lecture series by Lloyd's last week as part of Black History Month. The lecture was hosted on the underwriting floor (check out those views!) and we engaged with a powerful and thought provoking lecture and conversation with Professor David Olusoga and Dr Sasha White moderated Tyreish Softleigh-Palmer Well done Tyreish Softleigh-Palmer Mark Lomas Lloyd's for the 1st of many lectures to come. The lecture series is named after David Flint who is Lloyd’s first black broker and is a part of the Inclusive Futures programme of which Equity is proud to be supporting as a delivery partner. #BlackHistoryMonth

Yesterday, we got to put our black history knowledge to the ultimate test at Equity City annual Black History Month quiz! Myself and the rest of the “Equitonians” came together as Equity’s community team and gave it our all. Although we may not have won, it was great fun celebrating the incredible black stories and achievements, whilst connecting and reconnecting with new and old faces! Thanks again to Lynn Abhulimen for the invite, and as always, it was great to catch up with Junior Garba ACII Godwin Sosi Cert CII Either way we came number 1 in our eyes! 😄 Jennifer Odogwu Joseph Okuboyejo Cert CII Mistura A. Earlier this month, some of our team had the privilege of attending an enlightening evening with historian David O., who presented on Reclaiming History: Untold Stories of Britain's Diverse Heritage as part of Black History Month. Hosted by BMS Group and organised by Tokio Marine Kiln, Markel, CNA Hardy, Equity City and iCAN Apply - The Insurance Cultural Awareness Network Jobs Board, the event highlighted this month as an opportunity to honour the immense contributions of the black community to British history. David emphasised the importance of raising awareness about the deeply ingrained unconscious biases in our culture and the need to deconstruct these barriers to create a more progressive society. A special thanks to Damhurst & Co's Erin Taylor and Olivia Collie for attending this impactful event!

October is #BlackHistoryMonth, which is a time to recognise and celebrate Black people throughout history. It’s a month for honouring their legacy, educating ourselves about the past and working towards a more equitable future for all. Respect for each and every individual is at the heart of our values, which is why we’re embracing the theme of Reclaiming Narratives this year. We kicked off the month with a keynote speech from guest speaker David Olusoga who delved into untold stories from Black history. David was also joined by employees who shared their own experiences and looked ahead at the steps TMHCC is taking to improve diversity, such as working with organisations like Equity City. It was an inspiring evening that highlighted the importance of amplifying diverse voices throughout history. #BelongAtTMHCC #BHM #ReclaimingNarratives
