We believe that nuclear power is necessary for a sustainable future because it is reliable and clean. That is why we are excited by technical advances such as the TerraPower project in Wyoming, USA. In June, Bill Gates, Chairman of TerraPower, announced the construction of their innovative Natrium™ reactor, a small modular reactor (SMR) that will begin delivering electricity to the grid by 2030. This advanced nuclear power plant will be operated with High Assay Low Enriched Uranium (HALEU). TerraPower says its Natrium™ reactor and energy storage system redefines what nuclear technology can be – emission-free, competitive and flexible. The innovative nuclear power plant is also said to offer a very high level of operational safety. The integrated energy storage and power generation systems are completely separated from the nuclear part of the plant. This concept allows the non-nuclear project teams to operate important plant functions such as steam turbines and brine tanks outside the nuclear control area. We at ETC are enthusiastic about these innovations. 𝐍𝐨𝐨𝐧-𝐭𝐨-𝐍𝐨𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐗-𝐑𝐚𝐲 𝐮𝐩𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬 Today and tomorrow (18-19 September) we are holding a special Noon-to-Noon session in Almelo focusing on the upgrade and refurbishment of X-ray equipment in the CABs (Centrifuge Assembly Buildings). This project brings together around 20 representatives from all our sites, R&D teams and key suppliers. It's not just about technical upgrades - it's also about strengthening and uniting our teams from across our sites to work together on this and future projects, and to work together for success. Once a year, our research and development experts gather at the 𝘌𝘛𝘊 𝘛𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 to discuss innovations at ETC and in our industry. This year's event brought together around 100 experts from across our technical departments and sites at ETC Deutschland in Jülich. The 2024 ‎𝘛𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦‎ was a great internal event and a testament to our vast nuclear expertise.
