🚀 ETC accompanies the first Ariane 6 launch in Kourou! 🚀   The European rocket Ariane 6 has taken off on its maiden flight - equipped with pressurised helium tanks developed by ETC. Last week, members of the ETC team had the pleasure of joining the Inclusion and Diversity in Nuclear conference, both online and at the Edwardian Manchester. This is the second annual IDN conference attended by representatives from ETC, and each year we have been extremely impressed by the high standard of speakers and workshops. Highlights included Prof Jason Arday's keynote on inclusion, intersectionality and belonging in the workplace and Caroline Keep's workshop on how to retain neurodivergent colleagues, both of which gave us extremely valuable learning to take forward into our EDI Working Group. The day also gave us chance to catch up with our friends from the Nuclear Rainbow Forum and network with our colleagues from across the UK Nuclear Industry. There was a great feeling of unity between organisations and motivation for the collaboration needed to foster positive change across the nuclear sector. Thank you to Monica Mwanje and the team for such a wonderful event!

The Enritec Cup 2024 ⚽ ⚽ Last week, ETC's office staff took on our manufacturing team in the second annual 'Enritec Cup' in aid of local charities. Our manufacturing team- the CAB Rovers held onto their title, emerging victorious for the second year and winning £500 for their chosen charity- Hooton Brownies. The money raised by staff spectating was awarded to our runners up- Unit 6 United to donate to their charity- Everton in the Community. In June, the UK team marked Pride Month by hosting a special Pride-themed ‘PAL Talk’ 🌈 🏳️🌈🌈🏳️🌈 'PAL Talks’ are an initiative introduced back in early 2023 by our Inclusion and Diversity (I&D) Working Group. Each month, the I&D Working Group organise pizza for lunch and gather team members together to discuss a chosen EDI topic. All members of the team are invited to join on two conditions. First- they join as friends, not as colleagues or managers; and second, that they must not seek to offend or seek to take offence during our discussion. The aim is to generate awareness around, and get the team talking about, important societal topics and issues. In June's session, we discussed the significance of Pride Month, how homophobia impacts people in their day-to-day lives and what each of us can do to support our LGBTQ+ colleagues in the workplace.
