Congratulations to our Factory Academy x HEADS alumni who showcased their final portfolio last week 🎉 Factory Academy x HEADS alumni were invited to a special private exhibition at Aviva Studios. Joined by Manchester City Council, the exhibition featured their final portfolio work which students planned and delivered from start to finish with expertise from HEADS - specialists in digital marketing. Factory Academy, which launched in 2018, provides free training programmes to nurture the technicians, producers and arts professionals of the future. Over 1000 local people have graduated from more than 40 different programmes, providing skills for careers from event managers, musicians, and teachers to production managers and technicians. Factory International
Performing Arts
A global destination for arts and culture in Manchester, operated by the team behind Manchester International Festival.
About us
Inventing tomorrow together. New art and music – at our venue Aviva Studios, online, across our city, around the world and at Manchester International Festival. Factory International will commission, produce and present an ambitious year-round programme of original creative work, music and special events by leading artists from across the globe. Drawing on MIF's track record for premiering bold productions that defy convention, artists will be encouraged to create work in new ways, to collaborate across disciplines and blur the boundaries between art and popular culture. Built with flexibility in mind, the design of our venue Aviva Studios is led by Ellen van Loon of the world-leading practice Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA). The 13,350 square-metre venue is based around large, open, ultra-flexible spaces that can be constantly reconfigured, enabling large-scale artistic work of invention and ambition that isn’t possible anywhere else in the world. The organisation will continue to stage MIF every other year, at Factory International and other venues and spaces across Greater Manchester. Building on the festival's record of working with communities, as audiences and as participants, Factory International will be a space where local people are actively involved – from participating in flagship commissions, co-designing programmes of activity, to shaping the organisation through involvement in its public forums. Through the Factory Academy, it will also become a major training centre for local people, equipping them with the skills needed for careers in the creative industries and helping to build the technicians, producers and other creative talent that will bring the future alive.

Meet Fusion Factory - the 14 Greater Manchester residents turned co-curators presenting playable artwork Those Who Hold Up The Sky with artists BRiGHT BLACK 🏙️ Over the past six months, Fusion Factory have been dreaming up the new artwork with BRiGHTBLACK, an artist collective led by Simon Wilkinson and Myra Appannah whose work has featured at Tate Modern and toured to 36 nations. Those Who Hold Up The Sky is a playable exhibition taking over the North Warehouse for its world premiere in March 2025. The city-building game invites you into a world of physical and virtual play where you can remix Manchester - made in response to Fusion Factory wanting to see Greater Manchester reflected in the artwork. We met with the 14 Mancunians to hear why they wanted to get involved with Fusion Factory and what they can bring to the project. 🔗 Read more about the co-curators: https://lnkd.in/ecrcNsXT
