The Pall Mall Cup is a hugely popular event on the Royal Automobile Club racing calendar. This year’s 3-hour endurance race took place on Saturday 19th October at the legendary Silverstone GP racing circuit and featured Pre-’66 GTs, Touring Cars and Fifties Sports Cars fighting for the prestigious trophy. Morley Racing was there in force in their stunning FASSI UK Ltd sponsored red Jiffy Bag 1965 Corvette Stingray which was up against cars including a Lotus Elan, Jaguar E type & Porsche 911. The circuit is 3.64 miles in length and the Corvette covered 260 miles at an average of over 70mph. The dramatic race enables multiple driver changes and saw Stuart, James & Clive Morley all taking the wheel. The cars finished the race as the light faded. AT THE TOP OF THEIR GAME We are delighted to share that Michael McGrotty & Gary Bishop from AllTruck Crane Repairs and Sales have achieved Certified Installer certification (FSC-P). To become Certified Installers both engineers have mastered the setup of the FASSI FSC-P stability control system to ensure optimised crane lifting performance. They are experts in crane installation wiring, pre-delivery inspection & handover familiarisation. They are certified ALLMI Thorough Inspectors & have completed the stage 1 hydraulics course at the National Fluid Power Centre. Michael adds the title to his previous GOLD Engineer accreditation making him one of our most experienced & capable engineers. As workshop foreman he can act as coach to his team of engineers. He was part of the Certified Installer group who visited the Fassi Gru Spa factory in April to get hands on with the F1750R & the new FX990 & FSC TECHNO systems. An experienced crane engineer, Gary has worked extensively in both service & new crane installations. He has previously done the toughest job in the crane business, working offshore testing, servicing and repairing cranes mounted in wind turbines. Gary adds Certified Installer to his SILVER Engineer accreditation. The FASSI UK academy is 10% training & 90% coaching to ensure the engineer can implement what they have learnt. To progress through the levels the engineer must demonstrate mastery of all the skills required to our coach Ken West. It takes a lot of time but creates real expertise. Out at work with Becker Transport Established in 1965, Becker Transport operates as a 3rd generation family-owned business from one of four warehouses based in Stevenage, Hertfordshire. The company prides itself on providing bespoke solutions to their clients’ requirements and is highly skilled in complex installations or removals of machinery or equipment. The FASSI crane was recently spotted by our Managing Director, Leigh Carter lifting an emergency generator into place at The Leopard - Bishops Tachbrook. The pub is local to our Head Office so it was a pleasant surprise to be able to pull over and take a picture of the FASSI crane in action. FASSI operator Luke Houghton demonstrated how with a combination of his skills using the RCS radio remote control and the power and manoeuvrability of the FASSI F710RA he carefully positioned the generator into place. After nine rounds the finale of the Bugatti Owners Club FASSI Classic Speed Championship took place at Prescott Speed Hill Climb on Saturday 5th October. The weather was fantastic for the third year running bringing out a large crowd of spectators & a 25 car championship field for them to enjoy. Thank you to the Bugatti Owners’ Club staff, to Tim Milvain for the task of handicapping (not easy!) and all the marshals for their tireless efforts this year. Out at work with Richardson Traction Ltd Thank you to David Darbyshire for sharing these great photos of a recent job helping to set up for the BBC Radio 2 ‘In the Park’ weekend at Moor Park in Preston. David used their FASSI 710RA.2.27 xhe-dynamic with RCS radio remote control to lift and position Radio 2 branded containers into place. This model is one of the larger FASSI cranes and with a maximum lifting capacity of 68.5tm and maximum hydraulic reach of 18 metres is perfect for the job in hand. Richardson Traction is a road haulage firm based in Thornton, Lancashire. Working with their well-established network of partners and clients throughout the UK their team has been providing high standard transport services for the past 40 years for a range of industry sectors.
