Insights on Navigating Net Zero As the corporate travel sector navigates sustainability, recent insights from Business Travel News Europe (BTN) highlight critical challenges on the road to net zero. Ami Taylor Associate Consultant at FESTIVE ROAD interviewed by Amon Cohen emphasised the importance of due diligence in addressing greenwashing, stating, "There’s just not enough to deliver the reductions we need, and that’s why alternative fuels shouldn’t be top of anyone’s list [for reducing emissions]." The piece explores SAF’s limitations in availability and sustainability challenges. Read more: SAF Power Struggles – BTN Article https://lnkd.in/gA8BiC4E In a further article by the BTN, Taylor stresses the importance of due diligence amidst growing scrutiny around greenwashing. She advises, "Definitely make sure you have the data to support any claims being made." Travel managers are encouraged to work closely with sustainability teams to ensure accurate messaging and avoid legal risks. Enhancing Accessibility in Business Travel Programs Festive Road’s Louise Kilgannon, Head of Outsourcing, was recently invited by ITM | Institute of Travel Management to host a Buyer Knowledge Exchange session on Accessibility in Travel. As a purpose-led, people-first company, we are committed to creating a better industry by making corporate travel more inclusive for everyone. This event provided travel managers with invaluable insights into improving accessibility within their programs, driving positive change across the industry. Key Takeaways: • Engage Stakeholders: Collaborate with HR, DE&I teams, and external organisations like the Business Disability Forum. • Leverage Internal Networks: Understand and address the specific needs of your travellers. • Review Language & Communication: Use inclusive language and accessible formats. Note that this may vary across different geographies. • Focus on Accommodations: Remove barriers, empowering all travellers. • Engage Suppliers: Ensure they understand and support your accessibility requirements. • Start the Conversation: Make small, meaningful changes and build over time. Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) compliance is also critical for customer-facing technology in travel programmes. Prioritising accessibility goes beyond meeting legal standards; it’s about enriching the travel experience for everyone. For a deeper dive into these insights and more, check out our full article here: https://lnkd.in/grc2-9gh Louise commented, “The main takeaway from this session was about the importance of removing barriers for those travellers with accessibility requirements. It was great to hear about the measures taken by many of the companies on the buyer exchange session. For anyone unsure of where to start, there were plenty of tips on the right internal and external stakeholders to engage; you don’t have to be the foremost expert to get started.” Full notes from the session are available via the ITM website for members or join to access here: https://lnkd.in/gwRH3ASx #Accessibility #ITM #TravelManagement #Inclusion #WCAG
