About us

FIND investigates the financial affairs of perpetrators of human rights abuses, war crimes and environmental harm. We work exclusively for charities, NGOs and intergovernmental organisations in support of their pursuit of justice for those affected by such crimes. Our work We map the principal actors operating in a sector where there are human rights or environmental concerns in order to help our partners formulate their accountability strategies. We gather information and evidence which our partners use for legal, quasi-legal and other accountability strategies such as strategic litigation, OECD complaints, regulatory action and public advocacy. We identify assets to support legal proceedings with a view to securing reparations for survivors of human trafficking and forced labour, and international crimes. Our asset identification work also supports sanctions submissions for individuals complicit in human rights violations and corruption. We develop and deliver training workshops to build our partners’ capacity in financial investigations and asset tracing. Our team and supporters FIND’s has an in-house team of four investigators who have significant experience of applying investigations in commercial litigation and international arbitration, as well as in the not-for-profit sector. FIND has partnered with Cat Suart, an experienced training and investigations consultant, to lead its capacity building work. FIND is grateful to have the pro bono support of Raedas Consulting Ltd, a top ranked London-based investigations firm specializing in complex disputes work.

🚨 NEW REPORT ALERT 🚨 Mythical Beasts and Where to Find Them: Mapping the Global Spyware Market and its Threats to National Security and Human Rights Today, we're proud to launch a comprehensive study that pulls back the curtain on the often opaque global spyware market. Despite its significant contribution to human rights abuses and national security risks, spyware continues to proliferate, largely through a global network of vendors, many of whom have remained under the radar—until now. This report by Jen Roberts, Trey Herr, Nitansha B., and Nancy Messieh, with Emma Taylor, Jean le Roux, and Sopo Gelava connects the dots between 435 entities across 42 countries, revealing the complex web of relationships between spyware vendors, investors, suppliers holding companies, partners, and individuals. While notorious players like NSO Group and the Intellexa Consortium have made headlines, this study exposes the broader market dynamics that sustain this harmful industry. Key Insights from the Report: 1️⃣ Concentration of entities in Israel, Italy, and India 🌍 2️⃣ Serial entrepreneurship across multiple vendors 📊 3️⃣ Partnerships between spyware and hardware surveillance vendors 🤝  4️⃣ Regularly shifting vendor identities 🦎 5️⃣ Strategic jurisdiction hopping 🕵♀️ 6️⃣ Cross-border capital flows driving the market 💸 These trends underline the urgent need for more transparency and coordinated international action to mitigate the risks posed by this market. But this is just the beginning. The report also provides actionable policy recommendations to limit jurisdictional arbitrage of vendors, scrutinize supplier and investor relationships, and, most importantly, enhance transparency across the market. Spyware’s proliferation isn’t just about rogue vendors or isolated transactions; it’s a global market that demands more granular governance. This report aims to bridge the information gap and empower policymakers and researchers to make informed decisions that protect human rights and national security. Read the full report to understand how we can move from reactive measures to proactive strategies in addressing the spyware threat. https://lnkd.in/gWY33cVN #Spyware #MythicalBeasts
