We're thrilled to share that FirstBank UK Limited was part of the highly influential Financial Times Africa Summit, an event dedicated to envisioning and charting Africa’s path to sustainable growth and prosperity. This year's summit brought together thought leaders, policymakers, and business innovators to tackle some of the most pressing challenges and dynamic opportunities facing Africa today. Attendees delved into critical topics such as developing the right energy mix for the continent and explored emerging tech solutions in AI and Fintech. Here are some of our key takeaways from the event: US-Africa Relations: The conversation around deeper, more collaborative US-Africa relations was forward-looking and optimistic. The mutual goal? Creating partnerships that respect Africa's autonomy and support its development agenda. Energy Transition: A balanced energy mix is essential to meet Africa’s growing energy needs sustainably. The discussions underscored the importance of renewable energy sources alongside conventional power to foster a just energy transition. Tech and Innovation in Fintech and AI: Africa’s tech boom is on! Leaders discussed how AI and Fintech can redefine financial inclusion, streamline operations, and provide scalable solutions to the continent's unique challenges. FirstBank UK Limited was well-represented by David Davis, Deputy CEO and CFO, our Head of Corporate Banking, Kemi Iyinbor, Head of Institutional Banking, Babatunde Ojo, FCA and Deputy head of Institutional Banking, Ibukun Adeeyinwo [LLM, EMBA] who engaged in some great conversations at the incredibly stylish Peninsula hotel and brought home valuable insights to guide our continued investment in Africa's future. At FirstBank, we believe Africa’s potential is unparalleled - we have always recognised this fact. Together with our partners, we look beyond the traditional perception labels for Africa. We’re committed to championing Africa’s story of resilience, innovation, and growth. Join us as we work toward a brighter, more inclusive future for Africa! #FTAfricaSummit #AfricaForward #Fintech #EnergyTransition #AI #FirstBank #FirstBankUK #Africatradecorridor #FTlive #InstitutionalBanking Event photos: courtesy of FT Live

We're excited to share highlights from this year’s IMF and World Bank meetings, where our CEO, Olukorede (K.O) Adenowo FCA joined influential thought leaders and banking executives in Washington, D.C., to discuss the path forward for the global economy. Captured in these moments are Olukorede (K.O) Adenowo FCA  (K.O.) Adenowo alongside Oliver Alawuba, Roosevelt Ogbonna, and Sola Yomi-Ajayi, leaders with whom we share a vision of sustainable growth and financial empowerment for Africa and beyond. 📉 The IMF's latest projections highlight challenges in Europe, with an ageing workforce and low productivity likely to slow growth to 1.45% annually until 2029. However, a resilient global economy offers renewed hope. As leaders, we're reminded of the urgent need for growth-enhancing reforms that boost investment, foster job creation, and improve productivity—ensuring long-term progress for our clients, partners, and communities that we serve. Here’s to driving forward impactful change and fostering partnerships that support a thriving economy in 2025. #IMFMeetings #IMF #GlobalEconomy #AfricanFinance #SustainableGrowth #ThoughtLeadership #ClientEngagement #FirstBank #FirstBankUK
