We’re proud of the long-lasting connections we’ve built with supporters like Becky Scrivens and her family. Becky, Proactive Publications Ltd and Inside Marine recently hosted a fundraising coffee morning for us. Becky's support extends a friendship that began with her late grandad, Tony – a familiar face at our Lowestoft office who created flower displays and regaled our team in East Anglia with many a story. Tony’s connection with us lives on through his family – Becky and her father Karl even recently raised funds for us with a climb of Mount Snowdon (our legs are aching just thinking about it!) When Amanda (our Mission Area Officer from East Anglia) accepted the generous funds raised by the coffee morning, she returned a painting Tony made to Becky as a small token of thanks. Bonds like this are so important to us and make our work as a charity unique. We are here for the long haul, supporting fishermen and their families every step of the way. We’re always welcoming supporters too! Send us a message to partner with us today. #FishermensMission #CommunitySupport #FamilyConnection #Partnerships #SupportFishermen

Providing a lifeline of welfare and support to fishermen and their families.
About us
The Fishermen's Mission fights poverty and despair in the UK's fishing communities by providing emergency and welfare support to fishermen and their families. The Royal National Mission to Deep Sea Fishermen (the Fishermen’s Mission) provides care, compassion and support to working, retired and disabled fishermen and their families. Deep-sea fishing is dangerous and unpredictable. Hardship and tragedy are facts of everyday life in the UK’s fishing communities. It is to the Fishermen’s Mission that fishermen and their families turn when they need financial, practical and emotional support. We are the only national charity specifically providing this care; we are THE FISHERMENS CHARITY.

Our support doesn’t stop at the shoreline - it reaches into fishermen's homes, providing care and guidance to their families who keep everything steady on land. In this video, Hayley—our Mission Area Officer for the south coast—chats with one of these family members. A simple check-in over a coffee might not seem like much, but it can be a vital lifeline when a loved one is working one of the world's most dangerous jobs. From offering grants for school essentials to providing access to SeaFit health checks, we’re here to prioritise the well-being of entire families. When home life is stable, fishermen can do their work more safely and confidently. Your support can help us continue this vital work. Only 2 more days until our very first National Support Day, and we have another story to share from a special guest! Today, our friend and artist Barbara Hawkins shares a story that highlights the lifesaving work we do, made possible by your support. Two fishermen faced a terrifying ordeal off the Tyneside Coast when their boat sank in the North Sea. Thanks to personal flotation devices (PFDs) we provided alongside Seafish, they stayed afloat until the Tyneside lifeboat could reach them. After the rescue, we secured grants to replace their fishing gear, helping them safely return to sea. This work is only possible through the generosity of people like YOU. As we approach National Support Day, we celebrate the difference your support makes for fishermen and their families. 💙 You can visit our website to learn more about how you can support our mission: https://lnkd.in/e8jvnNJ2 Special thanks to Rose (mumonmuddylane from Instagram) and Jordan Rojano for filming and editing this video with Barbara. #FishMishNationalSupportDay #SupportFishermen #FishingSafety #CorporateGiving #CommunitySupport #CSR

We want to share Robert's story as we continue our countdown to our first National Support Day. Robert, a fisherman from Port Seton, reached out to his local Fishermen’s Mission Area Officer- Donna - when he was at his lowest point. With the support of Shipwrecked Mariner's Society grants and the generosity of our donors, we helped Robert find a safe home, rebuild relationships, and work through his recovery from addiction. As Robert says: “It’s ok to cry for help. That’s what I tell all fishermen, particularly young fishermen.” This story reminds us of the power of community support—and that we can't do this work alone. Your support is what makes our work with people like Robert possible. Join us in supporting fishermen and their families as we approach National Support Day, just 3 days away.
