Over 80% of companies with revenues over $250 million are in the hands of private investors, how will this affect the market?   With less and less public companies and the rate of IPOs slowing over the last 15 years, is this trend here to stay? From Thierry’s perspective, the answer is yes, particularly given that “since 2015 there has been more money on a yearly basis raised by private equity and private assets funds than on the public market.”   Private Capital is constantly evolving. Authorised Push Payment fraud is now the most common type of financial scam in the UK, and in 2023 alone, APP schemes were estimated to have caused losses of almost £460m. From 7 October 2024, UK payment service providers must reimburse consumers who have fallen victim to push payment scam when using the Faster Payments Service. It was a pleasure to host a table at this year's AFL Europe Grand Final Lunch at The Kia Oval - Surrey County Cricket Club.   Our team, James Earl, Andrew Bessemer Clark, Digby Hebbard, Kimberley Perry and Sarah Davies spent the afternoon celebrating what was one of Australia’s most iconic sporting events amongst industry leaders.   Special thanks to our guests who joined us for a memorable day.

What does the Vinesh Phogat case and Manchester City vs The Premier League tell us about the growing role of arbitration in the sports industry?   Mythily Katsaris, James Earl and Mark Buckley, alongside Dinesh Pednekar and Yashojit Mitra, spoke on ‘The Big Business of Sport- Why Arbitrate?’ at India ADR Week, 2024.   We were delighted to collaborate with Economic Laws Practice (ELP) on this partner event. The role of CAS, confidentiality in sports arbitrations and foreign direct investment in UK sports properties are all issues that we expect to hear much more on in the future. 

UK prospectus reform: what are the major changes ahead? Keeping up the rapid pace of reform of the UK capital markets rules, the UK Financial Conduct Authority has published a consultation paper on the prospectus regime. This comes after the finalisation of the new UK Listing Rules back in July.
