It’s the opening day of #COP16 in Cali, Colombia, and we’re proud to announce that we are Accor Colombia's official food footprinting partner. Agricultural land expansion directly reduces space for nature and is a key driver of biodiversity loss worldwide. By working with Foodsteps, Accor is measuring and communicating the impact of their hotel menus on biodiversity and land use. With 10 hotels in Colombia, including IBIS hotel in Cali – the host hotel for COP16 delegates – Accor is not only tracking the environmental footprint of each dish but also empowering their teams with knowledge through interactive workshops and educating guests via environmental labels. We’re proud to share that this hard work has led to Ibis Cali reducing the environmental impact of popular dishes on their menu, including a Carpaccio that swapped out beef for beetroot, resulting in a 93% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and 99% less impact on land use.
