Introducing Patrick Ingle, one of our exceptional Research Scientists at Forge Genetics! 👋 Described by our CEO Craig Woods as ‘masterful’ in the lab, Patrick plays a crucial role within our internal R&D team and brings with him a wealth of experience working with pathogens, anaerobes, and genetically recalcitrant species. Patrick also excels in translating complex science into clear, meaningful project updates, making him the perfect bridge between our lab and clients. Patrick’s passion for research began after earning his degree in Biological Sciences from The University of Edinburgh. He then pursued a PhD within the Clostridia Research Group at the University of Nottingham, during which he worked on developing new genetic tools to engineer Clostridioides difficile and investigated the resistance properties exhibited by its endospores. Following this, Patrick continued working as a Postdoctoral researcher within the Synthetic Biology Research Group, where he focussed on various industrially relevant and disease-causing Clostridium species. Patrick completed several projects with external companies and international academic partners, and saw first-hand the need for improved microbial genetic tools. That’s where we come in! Since joining Forge Genetics, Patrick has been instrumental in implementing and developing our proprietary gene editing technology. We are incredibly grateful for Patrick’s hard work and dedication, and we cannot wait to witness his continued fantastic progress in the lab. #ForgeGenetics #EmployeeSpotlight #ResearchInnovation #GeneEditing

Beyond our fantastic lab space, we are fortunate enough to have access to the bespoke robotics suite at the Synthetic Biology Research Centre within the University of Nottingham. Below are just a few of the ways that these cutting-edge robots have levelled up our in-house efficiencies… 🔎 When creating custom gene-editing projects for our clients, the robotics platform allows us to incorporate core processes such as gene assembly, microbial transformation and colony picking into streamlined workflows. 👩🔬 With this advanced set up, we are able to culture and manipulate bacteria in both a high throughput and precise manner. This is incredibly useful within our directed evolution work, significantly scaling what is usually possible at bench-scale. ⏱ This high level of automation enables our scientists to spend less time performing repetitive lab tasks, and more time completing complex analyses and brainstorming new and exciting ideas! #ForgeGenetics #Biotechnology #Innovation #GeneEditing
