We exist to bridge the gap between entrepreneurs and the charities making the most difference in the world.

About us

We are a global nonprofit empowering entrepreneurs to do the most good possible with their charitable giving --- Members pledge to give a small percentage of their personal proceeds to the charities of their choice following an exit, and the community also meets up for dinners, forums and talks exploring the latest news at the intersection of charity and technology. Founders Pledge is bridging the gap between the private and social sector, by encouraging entrepreneurs to apply the same rigour and thoughtfulness to their philanthropy as they do to their business. We also provide research, consultancy and support around every donation, so that pledgers can feel confident that their funds are going to charities that are evidence based, transparent, and impactful. Membership and all services provided, including events, online content and research, are completely free, meaning that 100% of every donation made goes directly to the members' charities of choice. EIDU is a high-impact charity and one of our recommendations in education. They stand out for using two of the most rigorously-evaluated and cost-effective interventions shown to boost learning in low- and middle-income countries. Congratulations to Bernd Roggendorf and the whole team on their progress and success in Kenya! Read more about their vision and plans to expand in Forbes: https://lnkd.in/e2XM45Fy

We're thrilled to share that Forbes has just highlighted our mission and recently published open-source announcement in an insightful article! Julia Brodsky dives into our commitment to empowering educators, parents, and communities globally through collaborative, accessible tech solutions. This piece also illustrates the profound impact open-source technology can have on education... This is why we decided to unlock our proprietary source code over the next years, making it freely available to and modifiable by third parties for the sake of democratizing learning opportunities – and fostering a more equitable future for all. 📖 Read the full article here and join us on this journey: https://lnkd.in/e2XM45Fy #EducationForAll #EdTech #OpenSource #ImpactDriven #EducationEquity #EIDU

I love the Founders Pledge model and how it is encouraging and stewarding new philanthropy into our sector. Plus I am a fan of Emily Hoble - her commitment and expert knowledge of the social impact sector! 💪🏽

I recently decided to formalise my commitment to positive social impact by joining Founders Pledge. For any entrepreneur wondering how to get started with philanthropy or be more strategic in how you give, I highly recommend connecting with David Goldberg or Emily Hoble. I'm delighted to say Prosper is also hosting an event in partnership with Founders Pledge this November. Our guest speaker is Dr Daniel Susskind. Daniel's work explores the impact of technology, and particularly AI, on work and society. In his latest book, nominated for FT Business Book of the Year 2024, titled "Growth: A reckoning", he explores what the future holds for sustainable economic growth in a world facing a number of challenges from global warming, to overpopulation and inequality. Am personally excited to start this journey with such a brilliant mind to guide us!

What do chess and charity evaluation have in common? It’s hard to compare things that are difficult to measure. Like quantifying a chess player’s skill level, measuring the impact of some charities (especially those whose work can have effects years and decades in the future) can be highly uncertain, subjective, and imprecise. Our Research team has developed a new charity ratings system (inspired by the one used in chess) to better evaluate impact amidst uncertainties and unknowns. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gVjj_tXr

We’re always excited when we find a very promising project that could save lives. GOAL 3 is bringing durable, low-cost, easy-to-use vital signs monitoring (part of a comprehensive system) to aid neonatal and child healthcare in low-resource settings in Africa. We're happy that the Founders Pledge community can help them continue validating their system, which could accelerate their scale-up and expansion!

GOAL 3 received a 260K grant from Founders Pledge and its community for potential exceptional cost effectiveness! 🎉 💰 Founders Pledge is an organization that works with entrepreneurs who ‘pledge’ a certain amount of their shares and/or profit to high-impact organizations. 🔬 Because giving to impactful organizations is at the core of what they do, Founders Pledge performs a thorough research and vetting process for all organizations they support, only donating to organizations with (the potential of) immense impact, and well, GOAL 3 fit the description. 👶🏽 Our early results show a 42% reduction in child mortality compared to the same period a year before implementation of the IMPALA System. Based on these pilot results, IMPALA has a cost effectiveness of approximately $208 per life saved, making it potentially up to 20x more cost effective than leading global health interventions like anti-malaria nets and vitamin A supplements! 👩🏽🔬 We will use the grant to perform further research in Rwanda and Malawi to further strengthen the evidence of IMPALA’s impact, accelerating the scale-up of the IMPALA System across Africa. 🏥 We are exceptionally grateful to Founders Pledge and its community for their trust and for awarding  us this grant, and we know that with it, many more health workers will be empowered, and lives will be saved. Would you like to stay up to date with the work GOAL 3 is doing? Be sure to follow us on LinkedIn 👍 P.S. Check out the full story on our website (linked in the comments). P.P.S. You can also find our cost-effectiveness calculations on the impact page of our website.

Maybe you are just at the beginning of your journey, but can you commit now to sharing a portion of your income when you “exit” your venture? Last week, we held a think tank meeting with 60 people under the umbrella of Founders Pledge in Agafay Desert in Morocco. It was a meeting where no business pitches were discussed, only how to do meaningful and high-impact work for the world. I could also describe it as a short camp that offered inspiring talks and training sessions. Founders Pledge is an organization that encourages entrepreneurs to donate a certain percentage of their gains to NGOs that benefit the world after achieving commercial success. During the process until your venture “exits,” they provide you with training on what the current global issues are, which problems you can help solve and through which NGOs you can do this. So, when you become a member, you make a commitment to “give back to society.” We made this commitment 8-9 years ago with the early discovery of Türkiye Entrepreneurship Foundation. We couldn’t remain indifferent to David Goldberg's extraordinary idea and inspiring entrepreneurship. Gaining the awareness of giving back to society at the beginning of the journey is already a tremendous necessity for the whole world. However, the training and guidance during the process are equally valuable. Because doing something that will impact society is one thing, but taking the right steps when you have the power to do so is another… Sometimes it is necessary to directly meet nutrition and medicine needs, while other times it may be more beneficial to provide solutions for the eyeglasses needs of people of a certain age, enabling them to participate in the production process and create an environment for them to earn their own income. A cultural change that affects the entire society is happening… In a period when the world’s problems are increasing day by day, it was inspiring to strip away everything and question “what can I do, how can I make an impact” and to do this together with high-impact leaders. While in the desert, some people opted for a camel tour 🐫 , but I found greater enjoyment in cycling. 🚴

How do you increase a country’s happiness? There are a number of ways, and the most promising might be by increasing GDP. In an analysis of Richard Easterlin’s latest research, Senior Researcher Vadim Albinsky reviewed the available data. He found that three of the other promising routes to boosting national happiness – health, pollution, a social safety net – appear to have a smaller impact than boosting GDP. It’s not the only solution, (in fact, we believe income is only part of what we should focus on), but we shouldn’t dismiss the potential of economic growth. ⭐ New recommendation Taimaka treat childhood malnutrition in Nigeria with a proven method: community management of acute malnutrition. They work in an area where other nutrition-focused NGOs don’t operate, despite exceptionally high rates of malnutrition. Their program is especially cost-effective and shows high recovery rates among the children treated. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/e8SuWmBT
