An underwater scene on a TV show can go by in the blink of an eye, but it needs days and days of planning and prep. David Diley takes us behind the scenes of a recent shoot for the long running UK soap, Emmerdale.... "If you like your soaps and watched Emmerdale recently, you’ll have seen the end result of a week of hard work and a highlight of last year for me. I was part of the dive team for the big set piece where the limos crash through a frozen lake and Amy ends up in the water under the ice. The first two days me and Dan Abbott built the scaffolding and set underwater, turning a small pool into a frozen lake, Wednesday was the camera test with Rich Stevenson and Thursday was shoot day. I was given the responsibility of being safety diver to Natalie Ann Jamieson (Amy) and her stunt performer and both were outstanding. Nat had never dived before so the early part of the day was making her feel comfortable breathing air underwater before spending the rest of the day dragging her around underwater and making her feel as comfortable as possible and most importantly of all, safe. The whole Emmerdale cast and crew were brilliant to work with and I would jump at the chance to work with them again. Working with them and my friends Dan, Hamish and Rich made it such a fulfilling, rewarding and FUN experience!" with David Diley Dan Abbott Richard Stevenson Hamish Harper

This is where my 7mm Xenos really started to show how good it was. The surface was a balmy 26 degrees, but at 12m we were hit with 21 degrees, hardly freezing but after descending through 26 I was glad to be in 7mm of Neoprene."
