Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the focus of UNESCO's Digital Learning Week. Head of Education and Principal Analyst Melanie Tagg saw Tuesday's launch of UNESCO’s AI Competency Framework for Teachers, providing critical guidelines to educators on the adoption and implementation of AI in education. "It's been particularly interesting to hear about the need for a human-centric approach to AI in education," said Melanie. "The message that AI is an enhancement to teaching, not a replacement, has been clear, yet teachers and students alike still need more training on its safe and effective use. Futuresource's recent research shows that US and European educators generally do not feel confident in their ability to integrate AI into their teaching practices, correlating to the substantial number of teachers who are yet to receive AI training." The CFT now offers guidelines needed for teachers when adopting AI in education, aiming to address the knowledge gap and empower teachers with the skills to implement AI safely, ethically, and effectively.
