We are Gaia. The better way to pay for IVF.

About us

Gaia is here to help people pay for and protect their IVF treatment. We fix your treatment costs upfront and handle all payments for you as you go through treatment - no surprise bills or unexpected costs. When you have a child, you’ll pay back your costs with a flexible repayment plan, payable in affordable monthly installments. If you don’t have a child in 3 cycles, don’t pay back anything. And if you decide to stop before the end of 3 cycles, we’ll discount your treatment costs. Gaia makes your IVF journey more accessible and affordable.

There isn’t a day where IVF is not headline news, and for good reason. There’s growing recognition of the need to address the declining fertility rate in the US. The federal government recently announced that 2.8 million federal employees will be able to access upwards of $25,000 in fertility care coverage. And now, California has passed a new law requiring large-group health insurance plans to cover fertility treatments, benefiting 9 million Californians. This is great progress, but how do we bring this to life in a cost-efficient manner? The elephant in the room is that everyone’s current benefits, including the federal government’s, are still focused on funding treatment cycles, not the outcome. What families want is simple: a child. That’s why Value-Based Care is the future of fertility treatment. It’s a model that ensures families get what they need - without the financial risk falling entirely on providers or clinics. Shifting the focus to outcomes, not just procedures, is what will make fertility care work for everyone.

Fertility benefits are changing: we’re introducing Value-Based Care. Instead of paying for fertility treatment without guaranteed outcomes, employers can now pay only for live births. We’re already making waves with this new approach. Here’s how: - It’s fair and it’s personalized. Every employee gets the right treatment for their own specific needs - no one-size-fits all solution. - It’s quality driven. When providers are paid based solely on outcomes, they’re incentivized to focus on the most effective and efficient care. In turn, saves you money and improves success rates.  - It lets employers maximize ROI. Successful treatment isn’t guaranteed. By paying for outcomes, not procedures, every dollar goes toward a positive outcome, reducing the overall cost per employee. Gaia pays for the journeys that don’t go to plan. - It’s transparent and comprehensive. Gaia covers everything from IVF to PGT testing, donor eggs, surrogacy, and adoption. Employees know exactly what’s included, and are fully supported throughout their journey. And you get: - Industry-leading support at every step (and an NPS over 90 to back it up). - Access to top clinics that prioritize quality care. - Full coverage for a variety of family-building paths, including egg freezing, surrogacy, and adoption. - Gaia’s model is all about delivering real results, while making the process easier and more equitable for everyone. For better family-building benefits, Gaia is the only way.

A recent Sunday Times story explored the murky ethics of technology’s potential to let IVF patients hand-pick physical attributes, like height, hair color, and eye color, for their children. While the tech isn’t reliable or widely available just yet, we’re starting to see glimpses of what the future might hold, and it’s a good opportunity to raise questions about the ethics of controlling genetic outcomes. Similar technology already exists, but it’s used to offer providers and patients a way to screen embryos for genetic abnormalities and inheritable illnesses like cystic fibrosis or Huntington’s disease. In the US, patients can already learn the sex of embryos through PGT-A testing.  But when paying for IVF can allow patients to select desirable qualities, we enter much murkier territory. It’s easy for the general public to be swept up by fears of a dystopian future where “perfect” children are being engineered by the wealthy, but we have to ensure that we don’t overshadow the very real need (by millions) for IVF as a treatment for infertility. For many, it’s the only option to build their families.

Conversations around fertility are often heavily focused on women, but male factor infertility contributes to nearly 50% of all cases. This Urology Awareness Month, an annual campaign by The Urology Foundation, we’re highlighting the critical role of urology in understanding, diagnosing, and treating male fertility issues. Urology is a large field that encompasses more than just urinary tract problems — it’s a cornerstone in male reproductive health. Urologists are vital partners in diagnosing and managing male infertility, including conditions like low sperm count, poor sperm quality, varicoceles, or hormone imbalances, all of which can impact a man’s ability to conceive. Knowing when or how to ask for help can be overwhelming and intimidating for many men. In primary care, men’s fertility education isn’t prioritized as often as it is for women. How many potential fertility issues are overlooked or left untreated just because the people who are there to help us just don’t know about them? 👉🏼Male and female fertility should be approached with the same focus, importance, and urgency. In heterosexual couples’ fertility cases, an approach that carefully considers both partners is vital for accurate diagnoses and effective treatment. 👉🏼There’s still a huge amount of stigma around male infertility, which can stop men seeking help or support altogether. By talking about it and giving a platform to male voices, we can all help to break that stigma, normalize discussion, and encourage men to prioritize their reproductive health. We need more research, more awareness, and more education about the role of urology in male reproductive health. Male fertility is not just a men’s issue — it’s a family issue.
