Get to know our Geospatial Director David Mcallan 🔍 🤝 David has been part of the SML team for 9 years. 🗣 His favourite thing about SML Geospatial is the opportunity to collaborate with a dedicated team that is focused on delivering comprehensive solutions tailored to a diverse range of clients and projects. 👷♂️ David's favourite type of survey to carry out is a Utility Survey (of course). 🚆 One of David's most enjoyable projects that he has worked on is the CVL (Core Valley Lines) project, where he had the opportunity to collaborate closely with the Amey project team. 🎵 Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond would be David's go to karaoke song. 🏉 David enjoys watching rugby in his spare time especially his local team Melrose (who invented rugby seven aside in 1883). In construction, success isn't just about meticulous planning, it's about adaptability and collaboration. At Clancy , our ability to deliver exceptional projects often hinges on the strength of our trusted supplier network, particularly when unforeseen challenges arise. On the eve of our Supplier Forum in Scotland, I wanted to share a recent example that underscores the importance of these partnerships. During our project at The Avenue, Girvan, we encountered a significant number of uncharted and deteriorating utilities, a common but hazardous challenge. Fortunately, our contractors expert team at R4 Utilities Ltd quickly identified and highlighted the issue. Thanks to our partners at Enviro-Clean, we had a vacuum excavator on site the next morning, allowing us to continue excavation work safely and efficiently. Simultaneously, Johnathan at Geo-Info Ltd , deployed his team to conduct a full site topographical and GPR survey. The data they provided was instrumental in enabling us to reassess our project methodology, ensuring we maintained the highest standards of safety and productivity for our client. This experience is a testament to the value of strong supplier partnerships in overcoming challenges and delivering excellence.
