  • Works have now started on the latest phase of Trafford Council's programme of constructing cyclops junctions along the A56 Chester Rd/Talbot Rd. The junction improvements will see the creation of a safe continuous cycling and walking link through to the centre of Trafford, opening the area up for active travel, improving safety and taking cars off the road. Phase 6 will see the junctions of Talbot Rd/Chester Rd and Talbot Rd/Seymour Rd undergoing major reconfiguration into cycle friendly cyclops junctions, including smart signals to cut down on unnecessary waiting. Talbot Road is a very busy road and well used by local cyclists to get around. These works will make it easier and safer to use 🚴 🚦

  • The A34 Scheme, in partnership with Stockport Council focuses on enhancing walking and cycling accessibility, supporting future housing, employment growth and tackling congestion by increasing capacity at the key locations along the corridor. A new cycle route is proposed along Broadway creating links to existing east & west cycle connections in the area. The works include: • A traffic calmed route along Broadway and its side roads with kerb line buildout to complement the existing 20mph zone. • An on-carriageway cycle route in both directions with upgraded pedestrian facilities at side roads on both sides of Broadway. • A cycle link from Broadway to Mornington Road. • Drainage works including SuDS permeable footways around raised tables along Broadway Relocation of existing bus stop lay-by. • Disconnection and removal of internally illuminated traffic signs. • Access protection markings across all driveways along Broadway to reduce obstruction by parked vehicles. • No waiting at any time restrictions are proposed to enhance visibility at all junctions along Broadway. • Uncontrolled tactile crossings at junctions along Foxland Road. • An on-carriageway cycle route in both directions along Foxland Road. • Provision of new waiting restrictions on Foxland Road to improve visibility and access. • Provision of raised tables at the junctions of Barcheston Road / Broadway and High Grove Road / Broadway. • Provision of additional traffic calming including raised junction tables along the quiet streets of Milton Crescent, High Grove Road and Wensley Road. • Landscaping tree planting to be undertaken within Brookfields Park.
