Great to see Bournemouth and Poole College still going strong and being such an integral part of our team.
I recently had the privilege of revisiting the college I first attended nearly four decades ago. It was an experience filled with nostalgia, inspiration, and reflection. Walking through the familiar hallways, albeit with a fresh coat of paint and modern upgrades, was like stepping back in time. The place has evolved, with new buildings and modern facilities, yet it retains the essence of what made it special all those years ago. I had the opportunity to speak with level 2 electrical students. Offering advice on the application process for a full time apprenticeship. This proved to be a very interactive, positive and enjoyable session for all involved. I couldn’t help but feel inspired by their vision for the future. They reminded me of a younger version of myself—eager to make a mark on the world, yet still discovering how to do so. This visit was also a chance to reflect on how much has changed since my time as a student. The tools of education have evolved, with technology transforming how knowledge is shared and applied. Yet, the core values of education—critical thinking, collaboration, and resilience—remain as vital as ever. As I left the site, I felt a renewed sense of gratitude—for the education I received, the people I met (and still keep in touch with), and the experiences that shaped my journey. My time there was not just about study; it was about discovering who I was and what I could become. Here’s to the past, present, and future of a place that holds a place in my heart.
