Our March issue is here and what is it like to be a girl in 2025? Is it better for them than it was for us? Have years of progress for women shielded the next generation from sexism, misogyny and impossible standards? Or, as was our biggest fear, is it actually getting worse to grow up as a girl in the UK? These are the questions we set out to answer in the March issue of Stylist magazine. Over the past eight weeks, we’ve travelled up and down the country talking to girls mainly aged between nine and 17 to understand the reality of what it’s like being a girl in 2025. With thanks to Girlguiding The Girls' Network GFS and Everyone's Invited. Grab your copy from tomorrow, or access the digital version now via the link here: https://lnkd.in/eQPAmhfg Content note: This article contains descriptions of sexual harassment that readers may find upsetting.

The theme of this year's International Women's Day is #AccelerateAction for gender equality. Our youth network wanted to share just a few of the ways Girlguiding NEE accelerates action: - weekly units across our region provide a safe space. Activities are focused on helping all girls know they can do anything. - providing opportunities for adventure, friendship and fun, both big and small, across the UK and internationally. - organising training and development opportunities for all members to develop leadership skills. - empowering peer educators aged 14-25 to deliver sessions on challenging stereotypes. - setting up a youth network who feed into our governance, and who speak out on topics important to them. How do you accelerate action? #IWD2025 🙌💪💙💜

📢 A civil engineering badge is now available for Girlguides (Guides and Rangers) in the North East! A Girlguiding programme that aims to inspire young women and girls to explore STEM and a potential career as a civil engineer launched in the North East, following a successful pilot across a handful of ICE UK regions. Girlguiding members who complete at least two of the activities in the civil engineering challenge for Guides and Rangers over two unit meetings will earn a civil engineering badge (pictured). 🎉 Since the launch of the pilot programme in 2023, over 6,000 civil engineering badges have been awarded! Through this programme with Girlguiding North East England, we want to help girls and young women understand the kind of rewarding impact they can have as infrastructure or civil engineers. If you would like to get involved as a STEM ambassador, please get in touch with us. Find out more: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/ek7q3fHT #CivilEngineering #CivilEngineers

NEE are excited to partner with White Ribbon UK (whiteribbon.org.uk) to create the Girlguiding White Ribbon Badge. Together we can raise the profile of the issue of abuse of women and girls. We all need to be aware, drive changes and influence positive attitudes and behaviours from an early age. The badge can be completed in one unit meeting or you might want to expand the challenge for Guides and Rangers and include a visit from a local support group (check your local council website) or a Girlguiding Peer Educator.
