I'm really pleased to share Pet Sit #12, reporting from the pet sitting front line as part of Annie's Pet Sitting BIG Adventure in which I've set myself the challenge of completing 24 pet sits by the end of 2024, raising a target of £2024 for Mums In Need in the process. I'm just over halfway there (£1,040 raised). Please, please donate if you can. Your help supports mums experiencing post-separation emotional abuse. I don't want others to have to go through what I did for years on end. Givey link - https://lnkd.in/g-7VVkzg Thank you. 💜

[Annie's Pet Sitting BIG Adventure] Pet Sit #12 Indy and Merry were my feline companions 😻 😻 for Pet Sit #12. Both were local adoptees, having fallen the right way up on their four paws with their adoring owners. This was the first time that this duo has been entrusted to a live-in pet sitter (namely me), so I was privileged to have them in my care. Indy, the black one, was the more forward of the two, making sure that he was first in the queue for anything that was going, be that food or cuddles 🤗 . Merry was more nervous and was so anxious that she had an upset tummy 🤮 on Day 1. She spent the first few days avoiding me, having a planned exit route as she shot past me at the speed of light should our paths happen to cross. As time passed, Merry gained in confidence, first circling round me when I was sitting at the desk. Next, she hopped up close to me on the arm of the sofa 💺 , eventually wending her way back and forth across my lap. Given time, I’m sure she would have eventually sat on my lap. With a local bruiser cat patrolling the neighbourhood, Indy and Merry’s safety was a priority. Their cat flap could be locked meaning that, once they were in for the night, there were no comings and goings. The lockable cat flap came in handy when Mr Bruiser peered in. I heard a major kerfuffle in the cat flap zone with lots of loud yowling 🙀 . Although there were some funky, punky fur styles with fur standing up on end, no damage was done as the cat flap had stayed firmly closed 👏 ! 💜 A massive thank you to Indy and Merry’s owners for being happy to include them in Annie’s BIG Pet Sitting Adventure. 👉 This is part of Annie's Pet Sitting BIG Adventure - to do 24 pet sits by the end of 2024, raising £2024 for Mums In Need (#2024in2024). Please donate: https://lnkd.in/g-7VVkzg 👈 ❓ Previous updates: https://lnkd.in/ez35WBR9 #ConfrontingCoerciveControl #emotionalabuse #MINlove

TEDx Speaker, Facilitator, Consultant for Co-design, Coproduction, and Social Change. Start Something Good social hackathon facilitator.

***THE FUTURE OF FUNDING*** I’ve been asked to deliver a session on this subject a few times now over the past couple of months on behalf of Cwmpas and Start Something Good, alongside various partners such as Givey, The National Lottery Community Fund, the WCVA | CGGC’s Catalyst Cymru project, Coalfields Regeneration Trust, Bridgend County Borough Council, Social Business Wales, and a number of Shared Prosperity Funded projects. Here are my key takeaways: - 1. Grant funding opportunities are reducing and are therefore more competitive. To be dependent on grants alone is extremely high risk. 2. Continuation/repeat funding is extremely rare. Therefore, groups need to think strategically about what funds they go for and when. 3. Third sector groups need to consider multiple income sources to better their chances of sustainability and survival. Other funding avenues could include corporate sponsorship, fundraising, and contract delivery (tendering)… or ideally, a combination of all the above. 4. Contract delivery is a very realistic and sustainable income stream for many groups. More on this subject can be found here (https://lnkd.in/e8v5yKBT). 5. Fundraising requires strategy! Over £10 BILLION is donated in the UK each year. Simply putting a “Donate here” button on a website will achieve nothing (there’s a lot more to it!). Understand which is the best digital platform for you, who your potential donors are, where you can reach them, and what your message will be. For more information you can access some of my slides here (https://lnkd.in/eGg3UPHN), or some relative blogs here (https://lnkd.in/eGipf-Yj). #Funding #Grants #Charities #ThirdSector #Communities

🎬 Words Matter! We are incredibly moved to share a video called, "Words Matter," featuring the inspiring story of Evie, a young girl who faced unimaginable loss and turned her experience into a powerful message of hope and awareness for our community. 💬 Evie's Story: At just nine years old, Evie lost her father to suicide, an event that impacted her life. As she navigated her grief, Evie found strength in sharing her story, highlighting how the words we use can deeply affect those who are struggling. Her story is beautifully brought to life through an animation created by the talented team at Alive With Ideas and Caroline Roodhouse MCIPR. 🌟 Community Impact: When Evie started senior school during the pandemic, she was confronted with casual, hurtful remarks about suicide from her peers, both in person and online. These words reopened her wounds and inspired her to take action. Evie wrote a heartfelt story about her experience and the damaging impact of thoughtless words, which was transformed into a powerful animation. 🤝 Join the Conversation: Evie's message is a poignant reminder that our words matter. By sharing her story, Evie encourages all of us to choose our words with care and compassion, fostering a supportive and understanding community. 💖 Aligned with Givey's Mission: This story aligns perfectly with Givey's mission to promote community support and drive positive change. We believe in the power of stories to connect us and inspire collective action. Evie's courage and dedication to raising awareness about the impact of our words embody the very essence of our mission. The response to Evie's story has been incredible, with communities, locally, nationally and globally resonating with her message. You may have seen the animation ‘Words Matter’, created by ourselves and Evie, the young daughter of Caroline Roodhouse MCIPR, one of our comms consultants at Alive. This powerful little video was created to raise awareness of the upsetting language that can be used around the topic of suicide, after Evie's dad died. Evie is the one behind the story and the words, and the talented members of Team Alive brought it all together visually. When Evie found it a little too emotional to record the words herself we turned to voiceover agency, Voquent - #1 Rated Voiceovers & Translations#1. On 18 May, Verity, the voice talent they selected for this sensitive project won the award for ‘Best Child Performance of the Year 2024’ at the One Voice Conference for her work on this powerful piece. Verity Uma Johnson (aged 15) commented: “Being the voice for Evie on this project, was an honour. Portraying someone other than a character who is actually real, my own age, someone who had gone through some truly sorrowful and hurtful experiences by ignorant bullies was not taken lightly. The script was honest, open and yet measured about Evie’s experience which I knew had to be submitted for a 'One Voice Award'. So powerful was the piece shown in part, on the evening it won the 'Best Under 18 performance category', Those in the room gasped at its humanity and applauded its brave creation so as to save others from the cruelty so often served.” Thank you Verity for your brilliant work on this and congratulations on your well-deserved award! 💛 💛 💛 #Communication #Collaboration #MentalHealth #Wellbeing #AwardWinning #Animation #Design #Voiceover #SuicideAwareness #Proud ********************   CREATIVITY IN YOUR CORNER.
