It has been a fantastic month for Gleeson Land, and the wider MJ Gleeson PLC team.     MJ Gleeson has earned the prestigious Gold Investors in People accreditation, placing us in the top quartile of businesses.    Gleeson Land received the @PeopleInsight Outstanding Workplace 2024 award, with an impressive engagement score of 98%, significantly improved from last year and well above the industry standard.    As we grow as a business, we want to develop and grow our existing talent. Following the end of our financial year, the team had a great day to reflect on our achievements and the challenges we've overcome during the last twelve months. More importantly, the senior Management Team set out our exciting growth strategy for the next 5 years. This was followed by a really valuable session where the team discussed what we need to focus on to achieve our goals, and importantly, how we make Gleeson Land an even better business to work for (more exciting news on this soon…) The day was capped off at Flightclub, where an array of talent was displayed on the oche. Another day, another site sale!   We are thrilled to announce an agreement with Taylor Wimpey for the sale of our site at Sondes Place Farm, which will provide 144 new homes to Dorking.   The development will provide a number of benefits to the area including: 🏠 50% affordable housing, 10% above local policy 🚌 New facilities for the local school and to reduce traffic congestion 🌳 22% Biodiversity Net Gain, above the required 10%, with 3.5 hectares of new publicly accessible green space 👷♂️ Between 336 and 434 direct, indirect, and induced jobs 💰 Up to £4 million in additional consumer spend per annum   Partnered with Land & Brand New Homes Limited, this represents our second green belt appeal success, something that has proved extremely challenging across the industry. We are delighted to announce we have completed the sale of a site in Fairford, Gloucestershire, to Cala Homes (Cotswolds). After securing planning permission in October 2023, we have worked closely with The Ernest Cook Trust, the landowner, the local community and Fairford Town Council to craft a well-designed 7.7 hectare development that will deliver 87 much-needed new-build homes to the area. This development not only complements the community and town’s needs, but is also mindful of its environment, working hard to preserve green infrastructure features while creating new habitats and consequently delivering significant biodiversity net gains on site. As a result, we are delighted to have been nominated for a National Building with Nature Award for the development’s design. Demand for consented sites remains strong, and we remain focused on delivering further land sales in the near future. Our team had the incredible opportunity to participate in a cookery class at the Gordon Ramsay Academy in Woking, organised by the G-Life team spearheaded by Zoe Chacksfield. G-Life are Gleeson Land’s well-being and charity committee, responsible for organising events and improving staff well-being. The team were split in to two separate kitchens and were given a masterclass on the breakfast burrito as we diced, sautéed, and plated, we were reminded that every role in our team is crucial to delivering success. A great morning and thoroughly enjoyed by all the team!

Earlier this year, our Managing Director, Guy Gusterson, along with Sharon Jarvis and Alice Best, designed a 12-month Leadership Training course for the Gleeson Land senior team.   Phase 2 of the programme took place over 3 days in the picturesque Malvern, Worcestershire, and included a day at Boundless Outdoors activity centre, where the team applied holistic leadership theory through practical activities. This week, Gleeson Land’s Research and Analytics team attended the Esri Annual Conference at the QEII Centre in London. This conference is a key event within the GIS sector, with 2,500 attendees, making it the largest GIS conference in the UK.
