Our colleagues Adam Ford and Sam Swindell were in Naas in County Kildare last week for the ITFMA (The Irish Timber Frame Manufacturers’ Association) Annual General Meeting. With nearly 60 people in attendance, the event brought together those involved in the industry for discussions and updates on timber frame construction in Ireland. The ITFMA presented its latest statistics which showed that timber frame now accounts for almost 60% of housing schemes in the country – a significant milestone. It was a chance for the association to outline its planned initiatives to further advance sustainable building practices. Thank you to the ITFMA for inviting us along to this great event. We really enjoyed hearing their insights and catching up with industry colleagues. #itfma #sustainability #timberframe #ireland

Last week our Glidevale Protect colleagues Matthew Pound and Baden Cutler, were delighted to be at the The National Self Build & Renovation Centre in Swindon with the NFRC for their South West technical event. The event was set up to help roofing, cladding and façade contractors with their technical and compliance questions through a series of presentations around key topics affecting the roofing sector. Matt Pound delivered an insightful talk around the correct ventilation strategies to be used when using different types of pitched roof underlays where in-roof solar panels are being installed. Thank you to the NFRC for inviting us along, it was great to talk to the roofers and those in the industry to hear about the challenges faced when solar pv is specified and to share best practices. #roofing #solar #construction #solarpv #nfrc Stuart Black AIoR Ben Rowlands Andy Rowlands M J Poole

It was great to take our PR agency, Harris Creative around our manufacturing facility in Pinxton, Nottinghamshire this week. Led by our QA Manager, Dean Horner, the visitors enjoyed a superb tour and learnt so much about the Glidevale Protect roofing and construction product solutions, as well as the wide range of products manufactured by the Building Product Design group. The tour of the factory was followed by a fantastic lunch, a review of the extensive PR coverage that had been achieved in 2024 and discussions about our exciting plans for 2025. #roofing #construction #ukmanufacturing #PR Kirsty Scott Faye Harris-Frost Liz Slack Karen Scrace John Mellor Matt Neary Lin Collier

Specifiers need to provide detailed and transparent technical product data at the building design phase. This is especially true when it comes to sustainability. EPDs – environmental product declarations - provide a transparent analysis of each product’s carbon footprint with added reassurance that this information has been independently verified. We’re pleased to offer this data to help all those in the specification chain, including architects, developers, main contractors and modular manufacturers to understand the environmental impact of our products throughout their entire life cycle. We have EPDs for three of our most frequently specified construction membrane products: Protect TF200, TF200 Thermo and VC Foil Ultra. Find out more on our website here: https://lnkd.in/eyQr83Ym or download the published EPDs here: https://lnkd.in/eDV-W2M6. In addition, our technical team can be reached at technical@glidevaleprotect.com for more specification support on future projects. #Sustainability #EPD #Construction #OffsiteConstruction #Housebuilding #Specification

At Glidevale Protect, we’re fortunate to be able to see our products installed in many fantastic projects up and down the country. We usually get involved in these projects at the very early specification stages helping customers with their designs and calculations to make sure our products are the right ones to meet their goals to create energy efficient, sustainable and affordable homes. We’re especially pleased to have been involved in some groundbreaking projects that are at the cutting edge of UK construction such as Barratt Developments Zed House project to aid their drive to zero carbon homes. And our products can be found in new sustainable social housing projects that make a real difference to the lives of those who live in them. You can read more about how and where our products have been used by exploring our portfolio of successfully completed projects on our website here: https://lnkd.in/exur8u34 #casestudies #ukconstruction #roofing #sustainability #affordablehousing #offsiteconstruction #socialhousing

It’s time to ‘meet the team’ again and at Glidevale Protect we are fortunate to have many employees who have been with us for much of, or all of, their careers. As we celebrate our 40th anniversary as a company, our Assistant Warehouse Manager, Dave Collinge will also be marking an incredible 40 years with us this summer! Dave’s journey began as a teenager, starting work on the Monday after the Live Aid concert in July 1985. His first task? Stacking hundreds of boxes of our newly launched DV200s – the slate dry verge system. He initially worked in a warehouse in Stretford, Manchester, going on to work in several other locations around the area. In 2002, Dave relocated to our Nottinghamshire factory to manage the despatch department. Back in the 1980s, Dave worked on roof and soffit ventilation products which were in high demand due to a change in building regulations. Dave recalls that he didn’t see a computer in the warehouse until 1988—proof of just how much has changed over the years! Congratulations to Dave on this amazing milestone - we're lucky to have him as part of the team. #ukmanufacturing #warehouse #construction #teamwork DAVID COLLINGE

What a great start to the week! We’re pleased to have been invited to visit the launch of Persimmon Homes new Innovation Centre Trial House at Space4's Training Hub in Birmingham. As one of the supporting supplier partners, we provided a mix of our products specified for the show home, including external and internal wall membranes, a pitched roofing underlay as well as ridge ventilation. The home features a variety of current and new technologies in order to provide a step forward in energy efficiency with a focus on offsite construction in Space 4’s factory, ensuring high pre-manufactured value (PMV). We have to say it was a relief to get out of the cold to take a look around in the warmth of the new home! Persimmon Homes will be using the facility for Training and Development for not only their own staff but also subcontractors, suppliers and manufacturers and we wish them every success with this new house type. It is fantastic to see our membranes in use and also that we’ve been recognised on their supplier wall on the side of the Innovation Centre. In attendance was Nick Beswick and John Mellor and we would like to offer our thanks to David Griffin, Simon Ratcliffe and the Persimmon team for their hospitality on the day. Thanks also to Ben Rabot, Wayne Harman and the team at BDC Roofing Ltd for using our products when installing the roofing works. #timberframe #newbuild #housebuilding #innovation #energyefficiency
