AI’s sustainability problem - what’s the outlook? Yesterday I joined a panel at DatacenterDynamics in London representing Global Switch. 📣 First of all, Paris agreement and net zero to 2050 is not going away. How we reach there with macro challenges around us and not knowing what tomorrow brings - that we don’t fully know yet. 🧩 Second, we all need to play our part. As a data centre provider we can make sure we build an intelligent infrastructure that can prepare for the liquid cooling required, flexibility to adapt for today and tomorrow and always aiming to find and collaborate for the latest innovation. This will position us to ensure the highest efficiency possible for our customers’ digitalisation and journey of scaling AI, both in new and existing buildings. And we have to be better and talk about all the opportunities that digitalisation and AI can bring to serve us with insights for improvements. 💡Third, the UK government’s decision last week to announce data centres as a critical infrastructure will hopefully bring awareness to the service that data centres bring. Ensuring access to energy - and more renewable one - will create an environment where the industry, the businesses and all people around it will benefit from. 🌱 We’re not perfect but our ESG ambitions are high as with most of the businesses in the industry. And the exponential increase in reporting requirements (we need to find the balance between reporting so we have time to make all the valuable changes) will certainly keep it transparent to show if we are on track 👀 📸 Thank you Anna Carolina Dowson for the photo! #sustainability #artificialintelligence #DCDConnect #datacentres
