Angore to feed more gas into PNG LNG in 2024-Q4 Angore #gasfield is currently “being commissioned” with “#well clean-up activities being undertaken” as it is expected to start feeding more gas into the PNG LNG in the fourth quarter of this year, according to the project’s partner Santos. The US$1 billion gas field #development would be ultimately able to produce 350 MMCF/D of #gas that will be used to help backfill and maintain plateau #LNG production at the #ExxonMobil-operated 6.9 MMT/Y LNG plant at Caution Bay in #PapuaNewGuinea. According to the Global LNG Database®, ExxonMobil and its partners in the PNG LNG JV have taken the final #investment decision on the Angore development #project in October 2021. The Angore field lies to the east of PNG LNG’s Hides #facilities and the venture had to build a new 11-Km #pipeline and install production #equipment at the Angore Wellpad A. “The field is made up of a similar high-pressure reservoir to the Hides field”. New owner chose new brand for Driftwood LNG - Woodside Louisiana LNG Woodside has completed the acquisition of Tellurian and its under-#development Driftwood #LNG project via an approximately $1,200 million deal. The #Australian operator has also renamed the Driftwood LNG to the Woodside #Louisiana LNG project. The company's CEO Meg O’Neill has said that “bringing Woodside Louisiana LNG into the #global portfolio represented a significant new chapter for the company” that “enabling us to better serve global customers and capture further marketing optimisation opportunities across both the #Atlantic and #PacificBasins.” Woodside is targeting FID on the Louisiana LNG in the first quarter of 2025, as the 27.6 MMT/Y project is fully permitted, its #FEED is complete, and site civil works are well advanced and the main #EPC contractor #Bechtel having “completed substantial work to advance the opportunity to this stage.” Perfect information about the world’s all LNG import/export projects such as “Driftwood LNG (now Woodside Louisiana LNG) project” is available on the Global LNG Database®. Total officially postpones the Mozambique LNG project’s start-up and revised up its cost #TotalEnergies has officially postponed the #Mozambique LNG export project’s start-up date from the first quarter of 2027 to the first quarter of 2029. Last year, the #French major expected that Mozambique LNG alongside with its other involved projects i.e. #Qatar NFE/NFS, #Papua LNG and Rio Grande LNG will start LNG production by 2028. TotalEnergies has also revised up the #engineering, #procurement and #construction (#EPC) cost of the project’s #gas treatment and #liquefaction facilities to more than US$ 10 billion while the #cost had been initially estimated between US$ 8 billion to US$ 9 billion. However, TotalEnergies’ CEO Patrick Pouyanné has reiterated that the project “remains profitable” and his company remains “committed" to it as he plans to meet Mozambique’s new president (who is to be elected this week) to discuss the project’s #development status and future plans. Mozambique’s government has repeatedly asked Total to restart the country’s LNG project as the #African country wants to take advantage of the current high prices of #LNG and the global shift towards cleaner #energy sources. Meanwhile, TotalEnergies has said that a decision to restart the project depends on assurances of #security in the region, settlement of differences with #contractors over the project’s extra cost, and getting green light on the project’s #financing from #creditagencies. It seems that cost considerations and financing are now the last issues before restarting Mozambique LNG as there had recently been "progress on security" and “70% to 80% of a $14 billion financing package underpinning the project has been reconfirmed by financiers”. The operator wants to have “a clear vision of the costs of the project after an interruption of more than two years - which must be maintained and not increase”. According to the Global LNG Database®, the 12.88 MMT/Y Mozambique LNG project's #construction started by its main EPC contractor CCS JV (McDermott International, Ltd, Saipem and Chiyoda Corporation) in 2019 late. Greek first FSRU project begins commercial operations The Alexandroupolis #floating LNG import terminal (#FSRU) begins commercial operations. According to the Global LNG Database®, #Gastrade-operated Alexandroupolis FSRU had received its first commissioning cargo in February. The cargo was delivered by the 174,000-CM Gaslog Hong Kong as she had loaded the cargo at the US-based Cameron LNG plant. The positive final investment decision (FID) on the project was taken by Gastrade in January 2022. The 3.5 MMT/Y Alexandroupolis FSRU project aimed to supply gas to southeastern Europe via the #Interconnector #Greece-#Bulgaria (IGB) naturalgas pipeline. The Alexandroupolis FSRU project “contributes to #energysecurity and to the diversification of sources and #energysupply routes for Southeast and Central #Europe, decisively upgrading the role and importance of Greece in the contemporary #energy map of Europe, making it an energy gateway for more than nine countries,” Gastrade said. Greece and Bulgaria have said that the Greek new LNG imports facility would help create a new #gas route for #European markets and cut reliance on #Russian gas at a crucial moment. “This landmark project will be pivotal in establishing a dynamic regional gas trading hub in Southeast and Central Europe, significantly enhancing the region’s energysecurity, DEPA’s CEO Konstantinos Xifaras has said, adding that “the terminal will play a critical role in advancing the Vertical Corridor Initiative, enhancing regional energy connectivity and resilience while also diversifying energysources.” Perfect information about the world’s all LNG import/export projects such as “Alexandroupolis FSRU project” is available on the Global LNG Database®. FERC supports Venture Global in delaying its long-term LNG contracts The US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) said that Venture Global LNG has taken "adequate" measures to fix "equipment problems" at its Calcasieu Pass LNG export project as these problems have kept the operator from delivering cargoes to long-term contract customers for two years. In fact, the FERC has concluded that Venture Global has not yet fully completed the #commissioning #process at the project in #Louisiana. Earlier, the FERC had ordered Venture Global LNG to present perfect documents about the #mechanical problems and start-up of the Calcasieu Pass LNG to its long-term customers including #BP, #Shell, #Edison, #Repsol, #GalpEnergia and others. The major #European #energy companies have asked the FERC to force Venture Global LNG to release documents to determine why #commercial operations not yet announced after 2-year and also asked to reject Venture Global LNG's request for a one-year construction permit extension to its Calcasieu Pass project. The US LNG producer has been in deep dispute with its main LNG buyers since nearly 2-year ago over its “deliberately” delaying the commercial operations date (COD) of the Calcasieu Pass project, which the #European buyers believe has "detrimental consequences" for #energysecurity in Europe at a “critical time”. Venture Global has repeatedly rejected the buyers’ claims saying its plant is not fully operational due to faulty #power equipment that is being repaired as it is entitled to sell "commissioning" cargoes for its own accounts under the contracts. The 11.25 MMT/Y Calcasieu Pass exported its first LNG cargo to France in March 2022 and remains in the commissioning mode so far as Venture Global has been selling all cargoes in the spot markets.
