Woodside has welcomed its newest addition to its global LNG fleet, the Woodside Scarlet Ibis, as it completed its maiden journey from the construction yard in South Korea to Pluto LNG, in Karratha Western Australia. The Woodside Scarlet Ibis is the seventh vessel in Woodside’s fleet of long-term charters, with four more scheduled for delivery by 2026 to support the start-up of Scarborough Energy Project. The Woodside Scarlet Ibis measures over 292 metres long and is able to transport ~174,000 cubic metres of LNG. It is one of the most technologically advanced and efficient LNG vessels available, supporting Woodside’s continued delivery of affordable energy solutions to customers worldwide and our efforts to lower the carbon intensity of Woodside’s LNG deliveries to customers.

A key component of Woodside’s approach to the energy transition is supporting our customers on their decarbonisation pathways. Recently, Woodside’s VP Climate & Sustainability, Peter Metcalfe and Head of Climate Strategy & Engagement, Gareth Wright spent a week in China engaging with key stakeholders across academia, the energy industry and government. Areas discussed included climate and energy policy, role of gas in the energy transition, expectations on LNG suppliers, as well as the role of new energy and finding opportunities to collaborate. Amongst the highlights during the trip, was the visit to Peking University's Energy Institute, where its co-founder, Dr. Yang Lei, hosted Woodside and shared the impressive work being undertaken by the Institute. It provided Woodside an opportunity to share its plans and progress, as well as demonstrate how Woodside wants to understand the products and services required by China to achieve its carbon peaking and net-zero ambitions. The trip further supported the transitional role gas will play in displacing coal, progress being made in China on renewables deployment and new energy development, and the openness to work together on decarbonisation in the region.

Our 70-year anniversary also represents many personal milestones for our workforce. Margot Meadows is hanging up the boots (and heels) after an amazing 38.5 years with Woodside! A common theme amongst our workforce, Margot started as a temp for a two-week assignment back in September 1985 in Karratha and in October of that same year, she was made permanent.

Delivering on our growth strategy. Quarterly production was 44.4 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMboe) and we remain on track to achieve full year production guidance of 185-195 MMboe. A significant milestone was marked in June when our major project in Sangomar achieved first oil. “The first oil from our Sangomar project offshore Senegal was a significant milestone, delivering against our growth strategy. Subsequent to the quarter, we achieved peak gross rate of 75,000 barrels per day and production ramp-up continues as planned. The addition of Sangomar to Woodside’s portfolio will deliver enduring shareholder value and significant economic benefits for Senegal, “ said Woodside CEO Meg O’Neill. Work on other major growth projects continued with the Scarborough Energy Project now more than two-thirds complete and on target for first LNG cargo in 2026. And subsequent to Q2, we entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Tellurian and its US Gulf Coast Driftwood LNG development. This acquisition positions Woodside to become a global LNG powerhouse and fits strongly with our strategy to thrive through the energy transition.
