Graft Polymer (UK) Plc  has announced that its partner, Awakn Life Sciences, has entered into a research agreement with the University of Nottingham. The study will explore a new chemical compound co-developed by both companies, aiming to improve social cognition and pro-social behaviours— key factors in treating mental health conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Led by Dr Madeleine King, an expert in behavioural neuroscience, the research will test the compound in rodent models using the social transmission of food preferences method. The study, expected to conclude by the end of 2024, marks a crucial step in developing new treatments for trauma-related disorders. Eurofins Discovery will carry out pharmacology testing on our co-lead aminoindane series, assessing their potential for addressing PTSD through modulation of serotonin, dopamine, and noradrenaline reuptake.
