Commonly known as sedge, Carex is a perennial grass with striking arching, strap-like leaves which are formed in clumps. These beautiful grasses come in a range of colours, including various shades of green, yellow, and bronze. 🍂 Carex works wonderfully in rock gardens, containers, or within borders, and grows well under many conditions 🪴 💻 Read more about Carex in our latest blog ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/emE9Pqa2

Invasive pests and diseases are a huge risk to our native species in the UK 🌱🦠 Outbreaks of threats such as Dutch Elm Disease and Ash Dieback have already caused widespread ecological damage and habitat loss. ❌ Thankfully though, there are many alternative species that can be planted, with resistance to major invasive pests and diseases. 🪴🌳 In our latest blog, we explore the current threats facing the UK, and suggest alternative plants to ensure resilient green spaces for years to come ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/ea4qx759

Did you know that plants can actually absorb pollutants out of the soil, the water and the air? 🌱 Phytoremediation is a sustainable urban cleaning technique that uses plants and trees to absorb and remove contaminants, such as heavy metals and chemicals, out of the environment. ♻️ In our latest blog, we explore the various natural processes within plant roots and cells that allow for this, as well as suggest some of our picks for the best plants to use in phytoremediation projects. 🪴 Read more here ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/epx7U_Qk

This week is Carbon week 🌳 Trees are incredibly important to reducing CO2 emissions, being able to sequester up to half of their total weight in carbon. ⭐ As part of the 3 Million Trees Project, we're proud to be working with National Highways and The Tree Council to plant British native trees in community backed projects over the nest 5 years. 🙌 The trees are being grown on our nurseries, from seed, in 100% peat-free growing media. 🪴 The first phase of the project is expected to be delivered this November, with over 600,000 native trees ready to be planted across the UK🌲 We're excited to see what the future holds for this important project 🟢
