💧Every day, more than 11 million bath loads of water is lost in Britain every day, just due to leakage taking place ‘beyond the stopcock’. To turn the tide on this water loss, Greystar, a global real estate giant, are rolling out Watergate's leak detection and prevention technology, across their London portfolio. Watergate is a new AI-driven start-up helping businesses and homeowners prevent costly leaks and reduce their water consumption. Greystar installed its Sonic Smart Stopcock, which alerts to the risk of leaks and can automatically shut off the water supply, preventing potential water damage and costly repairs. Greystar employees and management also use the Watergate companion mobile app and Watergate’s Enterprise Dashboard which allows them to centrally monitor and manage water usage and risks across all locations. “We’ve been incredibly impressed with Watergate Sonic’s performance and reliability across our pilot and it has already identified and prevented several leaks. Our first development as part of our €420 million investment in Dutch housing will be delivered in 2027, providing 780 homes for key workers and pensioners. Constructed by Ten Brinke, Zirro in Leiden, South Holland will include affordable one, two and three bedroom apartments and be developed to meet a high level of sustainability criteria. The Dutch Essential Housing Venture, our partnership with pension fund Pensioenfonds ABP and its asset manager APG will supply high-quality homes in areas that critically need it. #GreystarEurope #Leiden #housing

We recently welcomed Tim Clark from Property Week to Greenford Quay, our community in West London, and one of the largest build-to-rent developments in the UK. "Using modular construction and volumetric technology, Greenford Quay is an example of how to build much-needed new homes, at scale and at speed... If the newly elected Labour government is to build its promised 1.5 million homes by the end of the current parliament, schemes such as Greenford Quay could provide a vital template."   Last week, we welcomed colleagues from Student Roost and Greystar (International) to the official opening of Nelson Place, our fifth property in Belfast. Alongside designers and developers Fletcher Joseph Associates, GRAHAM Building and Johnson Development Associates, Inc., who have worked on Nelson Place since the start, we also welcomed local community champions, fellow PBSA sector professionals, and educators from both Ulster University, Ulster University School of Sport and Queen's University Belfast, including Ulster University’s Provost Professor Cathy Gormley-Heenan. We celebrated the start of construction at The Bermondsey Project on Thursday, alongside members of Southwark Council, McAleer & Rushe, McLaren Construction Group and John Sisk & Son Ltd. Speaking at the event, Development Director Jonathon Armstrong said: “I want to thank Southwark Council and all our partners for their work getting us to this stage. It’s exciting to see this new community begin to take shape and we’re looking forward to seeing the project progress with the first residents due to move in from 2025.” Councillor Helen Dennis, Cabinet Member for New Homes & Sustainable Development said: “The Bermondsey Project is the largest housing scheme currently being built in Southwark. It will deliver more than 1,600 much needed new homes and new commercial space in one of the retained and refurbished factory buildings. I'm delighted that the council has secured an agreement for at least 338 of these new homes to be let at social rent. That's equivalent to delivering a whole new council estate for our borough." The scheme, at the former Peak Freens biscuit factory will include extensive play and public spaces with new walkways to better connect the area.
