GAVO and CCBC were very pleased to see so many volunteers from Rhymney and from statutory sector and private sector partners turn out for a week of Tree Planting recently in Rhymney Memorial Park. An annual event held in conjunction with Caerphilly County Borough Council, we had more volunteers than ever this year. WELL DONE ALL! Contact: Caren@gavo.org.uk for more information.
Tree planting week success! 🌱 We're super proud of our colleagues who used one of their two annual volunteering days to plant trees with the Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisations (GAVO). It was a day filled with hard work, sore muscles, and huge smiles, and totally worth it! As part of Tree Planting Week, an incredible 170 volunteers came together to plant 3,000 trees for a greener future. Our team was part of this incredible effort. 🌳. For any organisations interested, there are another 3,000 trees waiting to be planted next year, see you there?! Check out some of our amazing colleagues in action below. 📷 #Volunteering #ESG #TeamWork #TreePlanting

Today I am celebrating 24 years of working in Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisations. Starting today in 2000 as the Community Development Officer for Caerphilly Basin and Aber Valley, then managing grants briefly before taking up a joint post of Community Planning Coordinator with GAVO and Caerphilly CBC, before moving over to my current post of Deputy CEO of GAVO. There have been so many changes for the third sector over that time, good and bad, and many changes within GAVO too. GAVO will celebrate its 100th Birthday in 2027, quite a milestone. And, If I am still in harness at that point, on the 7th of the 7th 2027 I will have worked in the third sector for 50 years! That's a long time.......
