About us

Hatmill is a supply chain and logistics advisor working with companies to improve their forecasting, warehouses, transport and inventory. Founded 15 years ago by Simon Dixon, we’ve grown our business through word-of-mouth. We work with large and medium-sized companies, including some of the UK’s leading and most trusted brands, to improve their supply chains so they become more profitable and can transform their customers’ experience. Our broader consultancy work includes: - Network design - Logistics performance improvement – warehousing and transportation - Cost to serve analysis - Sales and operations planning (S&OP) - Forecasting and demand management In addition to consulting, we offer ongoing support services to clients: - Outsourced demand forecasting - creating more accurate, dependable forecasts to reduce excess stock and lost ‘out of stock’ sales - Supply chain analytics - reviewing the success of events, and opportunities to improve order and transport profiles - Warehouse optimisation - maximising capability and capacity of a site by structuring and laying out warehousing space in the most efficient way Working at Hatmill: We’re different from other consulting and supply chain services firms: - We’re a team of 45+ supply chain and logistics specialists, who have all come from industry - We’re a ‘Teal’ organisation - self-organisation and self-management are how we’re hard-wired. We take responsibility for our governance and how we interact with each other - We don’t have job titles, and we don’t do hierarchy - Instead of boxed-in roles and job descriptions, we are fluid and projects are often self-selected -We’re always on the lookout for talented individuals who can play their part in the next stage of Hatmill’s growth. • 🚀 Exciting Collaboration Alert! 🚀 Yesterday, members of our Automation team, Alexander Hirst, Andrew Smith, Joshua Polding MBA and Philip Beasley had an insightful meeting with Jake Fisher and Tiernan Treacy from AutoStore™. They discussed a game-changing collaboration and got exclusive training on their software for designing Autostore automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS). 🎉 Hatmill are the first UK consultancy to access this platform, giving us a competitive edge in scoping automated sites. This tool lets us present virtual Autostore solutions directly to clients and bust common myths about its capabilities. With our new expertise, we can better assess if Autostore is the right fit for our clients and challenge unsuitable proposals. 💡 #InnovationSupplyChain #Collaboration #AutomationSolutions #Autostore #Hatmill #WarehouseSolutions

  • 🌟 Celebrating National Work Life Week 🌟 Helen Price FCILT, a dedicated Supply Chain Consultant, shares what flexible working means to her: "In short, it enables me to use my judgement on how I carve up my time. I wear a multitude of hats; mum/stepmum of five teenagers, partner, daughter, sister, auntie, godmother, friend, colleague, and consultant. The traditional 9-5 model expected you to leave your other hats at home, but we are not robots. We have a life outside work and are unlikely to do our best work when performing to a schedule. Working flexibly means that when I’m mulling over a solution to a client problem, I can be creative about how I solve it. My best ideas often come when I go for a walk. I’m fortunate both to live in the countryside and to manage my own diary so I can plan my day to incorporate going for a walk.🚶♀️ My kids are teenagers and I’m conscious that they are not going to be 'dependents' for many more years. A saying that resonates for me is 'your kids are the only ones who will remember how hard you worked'. These pictures show me working whilst my daughter is at her karting academy session. She wants to be an F1 driver🏎️ . I’m not going to burst her bubble that we don’t have the millions required to get her that dream, but my ability to work flexibly means I can take time out mid-afternoon to support her in taking steps towards her goal whilst achieving my work commitments." #worklifeweek #flexibleworking #worklifebalance #Hatmill #GreatPlaceToWork

  • 🌍 Celebrating World Mental Health Day! 🌍 This year's theme, "It’s time to prioritise mental health in the workplace", truly resonates with us. Tomorrow, our team will come together for a virtual ☕ Tea & Talk 🧁 session, hosted by our resident Mental Health First Aid Trainer, Paddy MacBrant. These sessions, which we originally held during Covid, have been a fantastic way to connect and discuss any concerns or challenges we face. This time, we will have some open discussions on topics that commonly affect our team members, a fun quiz, and share some of the fantastic resources from our Wellbeing Hub. It will be a great opportunity to support each other and prioritise our mental health. Let's continue to make mental health a priority in our workplace! 💚 #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealthMatters #TeamSupport #Wellbeing #Hatmill #Headspace

  • 🌟 National Work Life Week 🌟 We continue to celebrate National Work Life Week by sharing stories from our team about what flexible working means to them. Today, we're sharing Sophie Rushbrooke’s story. Sophie is a Management Accountant at Hatmill. “With two young children, flexibility means that I can be present, which is one of the things I value most about working at Hatmill. 🏊 By making minor adjustments to my work schedule, I can pick up my children from school, watch my daughter swim, and be there when my partner, who works long shifts, cannot. 🧘My mental well-being has significantly improved since joining Hatmill, largely due to the flexibility that allows me to be more present for my family.” Sophie's story is a testament to the positive impact that flexible working can have on our lives. At Hatmill, we are proud to support our team members in achieving a healthy work/life balance. #worklifeweek #flexibleworking #worklifebalance #Hatmill #GreatPlaceToWork

  • 🌟 National Work Life Week 🌟 At Hatmill, we believe that getting your work/life balance right is fundamental to your wellbeing. This week, we're celebrating National Work Life Week by sharing stories from our team about what flexible working means to them. Today, we're sharing Liam O'Keeffe’s story. Liam is a Consultant and a new parent. Here's what he has to say: “As a new parent, flexible working provides me with the ability to balance my family and professional commitments in a way that works for me. I may take an hour or two ‘off’ in the day and make it back up in the evening once my family have gone to sleep. By not limiting myself to working within a set time window, I can prioritise my focus and energy to where it can be used most effectively, allowing me to bring my best self to work and home.” Liam’s story is a perfect example of how flexible working can help balance family and professional commitments. It’s great to see how this flexibility allows him to be present for his family while still meeting his professional responsibilities. Stay tuned for more stories from our team throughout the week! #worklifeweek #flexibleworking #worklifebalance #Hatmill #greatplacetowork

This morning, we published our third quarter trading update and are pleased to announce total sales increased 10.6%, with company managed like-for-like sales up 5%, underpinned by continued menu development, extended trading hours and new digital channels.   So far this year, we have opened 152 new shops, growing our estate to 2,559 shops in total and we remain on track to open between 140 and 160 net new shops in 2024, as we continue to improve the quality of the estate as well as extending our reach.   Our supply chain investments to support our ambitious growth plans are progressing well. We have completed the redevelopment of our Birmingham distribution centre and the extension of our Amesbury distribution centre, whilst the construction and planning of our manufacturing and logistics facilities in Derby and Kettering are progressing in line with our plans.   As we continue to evolve our menu, we have launched a Pumpkin Spice Doughnut to our sweet range, complementing the return of our seasonal drinks range including the Pumpkin Spice Latte and Salted Caramel Latte which are both also available as part of our over ice range, now in 800 of our shops.   Read our full statement here:  https://lnkd.in/ezWyWV38
