Today, on International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating the everyday heroes who are shaping patient care across the NHS and beyond. At HBSUK, we’re proud to champion women in healthcare, from our own teams working hard to improve healthcare for all, to the thousands of female NHS staff we work alongside. In our Contact Centre, we’re honouring Women’s History Month with an inspiring display of quotes from women who have inspired us. Because their voices, past and present, remind us why equity matters now more than ever. But we know there are still inequalities in healthcare. From delayed diagnoses to disparities in treatment, there’s more to be done. We’re committed to improving access, outcomes and experience for all women through smarter pathways, digital innovation, and rapid specialist access. For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment. #IWD2025 #WomenInHealthcare #HBSUK #HealthEquality

A new Guardian report reveals that NHS doctors are now more sleep-deprived than during the pandemic, with 69% saying extreme tiredness has impaired their ability to treat patients. The report cites staff shortages, soaring demand, and intense workloads as key contributors to clinician fatigue. At HBSUK, we’re helping NHS teams work smarter, not harder: 👉 Virtual Lucy cuts unnecessary appointments, reducing the strain on frontline staff. 👉 Insourcing services provide evening & weekend clinics, spreading demand and easing the pressure on daytime teams. By tackling backlogs and freeing up clinicians’ time, we can help prevent burnout and improve patient care. Effective and efficient communication between systems reduces delays in decision making, and means that clinicians can focus on what truly matters: better patient care. That's why HBSUK partnered with InterSystems to integrate their IRIS for Health with our Virtual Lucy outpatients platform to deliver real-time, seamless data sharing across NHS systems. Read more about the improvements this integration has already had at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Trust here: https://lnkd.in/eWGA6wTi #NHS #HealthcareInnovation #DigitalHealthcare #Interoperability #VirtualLucy
When patient data is stuck in disconnected systems, it creates unnecessary admin, slows down decision-making, and delays treatment. But when data flows seamlessly, healthcare teams can focus on what really matters: delivering better patient care. That’s why HBSUK integrated InterSystems IRIS for Health with its Virtual Lucy platform, transforming how patient information is shared across NHS systems. With IRIS for Health, Virtual Lucy can now: ✅ Automate patient onboarding and referrals ✅ Eliminate manual data entry into NHS systems ✅ Accelerate treatment decisions through real-time data sharing Read the blog below from our Sales Manager, Redmond O'Leary, as he discusses how this integration has already led to significant workflow improvements at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust. https://lnkd.in/dGzQ6e_4

A recent BBC report highlights how overcrowded parking at North Wales hospitals is delaying care. Patients are arriving early yet still struggling to park, leading to late arrivals and knock-on effects for hospital staff. At HBSUK, we’re already tackling these challenges. Virtual Lucy reduces the need for in-person visits—patients can be assessed remotely, often within 72 hours. Additionally, our insourcing services run evening & weekend clinics, spreading out appointments to ease daytime congestion. By cutting unnecessary trips and optimising scheduling, we give NHS Trusts control over their patient flow, keeping appointments on track while improving patient experience. LGBT+ History Month is drawing to a close, and we have one more Healthcare Hero that we’d like to celebrate. Dr. Marie Equi was a medical doctor, an activist, and an openly lesbian woman at a time when being out was dangerous. She dedicated her career to providing medical care to working-class and immigrant communities, often treating patients for free. She was also a fierce advocate for women’s suffrage, labour rights, and birth control access, regularly providing birth control information and abortions at a time when both were illegal. Equi wasn’t afraid to take to the streets—she protested unfair working conditions, was arrested for her activism, and even force-fed while in prison for opposing World War I. She lived openly with her long-term partner, Harriet Speckart, and together they adopted a daughter, defying the social norms of the time. Her fearless fight for justice made her one of the most radical and inspiring figures in LGBTQ+ and medical history.

👉 The Procurement Act is now live! 👈 Today marks the launch of the Procurement Act 2023, bringing exciting changes to the way public sector contracts are awarded. At HBSUK, we welcome these reforms and the opportunities they create for a more transparent, efficient, and value-driven procurement process. So, what’s changing❓ ✅ Simplified processes—A more streamlined approach to bidding makes it easier for suppliers to engage. ✅ Increased transparency – A new central platform for contract opportunities levels the playing field. ✅ Focus on value, not just cost – Contracts will place greater emphasis on social value and innovation. ✅ Greater accountability – New exclusion rules and supplier performance tracking ensure fair competition. We know that change brings questions, and we’re here to help. To our partners and NHS Trusts, we’d love to connect and discuss what these changes mean. Let's speak about how we can work together to navigate the changing landscape and achieve the best results for patients and healthcare services.
