The team at Darnley Court care home in Glasgow were delighted to welcome Alison Willoughby, judge at the Healthcare Design Awards, ahead of the awards final next week! Alison joined the team this week to hear about the innovative design of its Specialist Dementia Care Community (SDCC) - the second of its kind to be launched in the UK - which is a finalist in the ‘Best Specialist Dementia Care Design’ category. Home Manager Lynsey and the team were excited to show Alison the unique features of the community, including: 🏡 Expertly designed low-arousal environment, complete with circadian lighting to support people living with advanced dementia 🏡 A collaborative approach to the home’s decoration shaped by families and colleagues at the home 🏡 Life stations that are designed to spark memories and give people living with dementia a real purpose in their daily lives 🏡 A library, games room and garden room aimed to support wellbeing and interests of those living in the home It was a great opportunity to showcase Darnley Court’s SDCC, and we’re wishing the team the best of luck at the awards ceremony next week! #dementiacare #specialistdementia #carehomes #HealthcareDesignAwards25

As Dancing on Ice continues, its fantastic to see our residents inspired to try ice skating! ⛸️❄️ For Tommy at Snapethorpe Hall care home, it was more than just a trip out to - it was the chance to make one of his lifelong dreams come true. With support from fellow residents and colleagues, he bravely took his first steps on the ice, listening carefully to instructions and skating with confidence. Residents and colleagues across HC-One care homes like Leighton Court in Wallasey had a wonderful time taking part in the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch, supporting local wildlife and enjoying nature together. 🐦🌿 In the run-up, residents got creative, making bird feeders using cardboard tubes, peanut butter, and seeds. On Saturday, everyone gathered to record the birds visiting the garden—spotting wood pigeons, magpies, a robin, and seven starlings! Two award wins in 12 months for Allison – wow! 🌟 The team at Rose Court care home in Radcliffe are celebrating after Senior Wellbeing Coordinator Allison won the Research and Evaluation Award at the 2025 NAPA National Activity Providers Association Awards in Liverpool!
