Each year on October 15, Global Handwashing Day highlights the importance of handwashing with soap and water, especially during key times throughout the day. Many germs that can make people sick are spread when we don't wash our hands with soap and clean, running water. Studies show that handwashing education can reduce: 🔹the number of people who get sick with diarrhoea by about 23%–40% 🔹diarrheal illness in people with weakened immune systems by about 58% 🔹respiratory illnesses, like colds, in the general population by about 16%–21%. That is why handwashing is so important, especially after using the bathroom, when preparing food, before eating, and after coughing, sneezing or blowing your nose. #GlobalHandWashingDay #HandHygiene #Handwashing #Health #HealthandWellbeing

This year’s theme for World Mental Health Day is workplace mental health. There are many things that contribute to a mentally healthy workplace, from providing staff training on mental health to tackling discrimination and bullying. Importantly, a mentally healthy workplace supports open conversations about mental health. World Dyslexia Awareness Day is observed annually on 8th October, as part of the British Dyslexia Association's Dyslexia Awareness Week (7–13 October). Dyslexia is a lifelong Specific Learning Difficulty (SpLD). It affects individuals of all genders, ethnicities, and social groups and is not connected to intellectual ability. It is estimated that 3.3 million adults in the UK workplace are dyslexic, many of whom are undiagnosed. It is important to recognise the many strengths associated with dyslexia and dyslexic thinking in the workplace, for example creativity, problem solving and visual thinking. When impacts are experienced, for example with information processing, often simple adjustments in the workplace can have a positive impact on dyslexic individuals. The theme of this Dyslexia Awareness Week is 'What's Your Story?', an important reminder that everyone's experience of dyslexia is unique. #DAW24 #Dyslexia #Dsyslexic #Neurodiversity
