Antennas & systems for resilient precision PNT and satellite communications
About us
Helix Geospace is developing a range of small form factor, high-performance, antennas for use in a wide range of demanding telecommunications and navigation applications including GNSS, Internet of Things (IoT), autonomous vehicles/driverless cars, drone delivery platforms, LEO satellite communications, personal body-worn devices and Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communications. Our Dielectric-loaded Multi-filar Antennas (DMAs) for GNSS applications enable the 10cm dynamic accuracy that will be demanded for driverless cars, UAS, aerospace and many other safety critical applications where reliance of smart systems and autonomy will prevail. Our multi-frequency DMAs support GPS, Galileo, Glonass and Beidou constellations, with highly focused phase centre, and high common-mode noise rejection. They are immune to multi-path effects caused by reflections in city environments, and are also resilient to interference, jamming and electrostatic discharge. The ceramic substrate concentrates the electric field, minimising near-fuel effects. DMA antennas are designed for rugged applications, so are ideal for military, aerospace and automotive products.

Norwegian Jammertest 2024 We are pleased to announce that Helix Geospace will be participating in the Jammertest 2024 event in Andøya, Norway, from September 9-13th, to test our antenna solutions. This Jammertest is the world's largest test event where resistance to jamming and spoofing can be tested in a real environment. It is organised by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, Norwegian Communications Authority, Norwegian Defence Research Establishment, Norwegian Metrology Service, Norwegian Space Agency and Testnor. Participants will evaluate #GNSS antennas and receivers in a controlled setting, where they will be directly subjected to jamming signals to measure their resilience. Improving the robustness of #GNSS technologies to withstand intentional interference and jamming is crucial for preserving the integrity and reliability of global #PNT services. The Jammertest unites field experts and stakeholders to examine GNSS vulnerabilities, aiming to develop and introduce enhanced, more robust solutions into the market. The value of having access to these test beds is immeasurable, The testing we have done so far is showing the advantages of the Dilectrix technology over traditional Antenna manufacturing methods, that enables low SWAP-C antennas with ground plane independence, focused phase Centre that leads to improved resilience and positional error, and allows for close placement to electronics when embedded within enclosures, without detuning.
Dielectrix technology enables antennas to be developed with much tighter and more focused phase centres compared to traditional patch antennas. Traditional patch antennas often adopt a phase centre as large as the surface area of the vehicle, which can lead to positional errors as large as the vehicle. Helix’s dielectrically loaded helical antenna has a vastly reduced positional error as it's contained within the compacted form size in the region of centimetres.
