Through the Edinburgh & South East Scotland City Region Deal (ESES CRD), we’ve partnered with the Civil Engineering Society at The University of Edinburgh to support students preparing for their careers! 👷🏽 Over the next two weeks, our team will conduct mock interviews and feedback sessions with four Civil Engineering students, giving them hands-on experience to help them succeed in future job interviews. With Civil Engineers in high demand, this is also a great opportunity for us to connect with emerging talent in the area. Proud to be working with the ESES Communities Team on this initiative! ✨ Site Visit to St Kentigern’s Academy! ✨ Our St Kentigern's Academy project team was delighted to welcome the Pupil Voice Group for an exclusive look at the site’s progress! This visit gave pupils the chance to see first-hand how their new school is taking shape, as well as the opportunity to engage with our site team, asking insightful questions, and learning more about construction processes and the diverse career opportunities within the industry. With monthly visits planned, the pupils will continue to track the project’s development and share updates with their peers. It was great to see their enthusiasm and curiosity about the project and the wider world of construction! 🏗️ #heronbros #buildingthefuturetogether #stkentigernsacademy #constructioncareers #futurebuilders

Thank you to Business in the Community Northern Ireland, The Road Safety Trust, Police Service of Northern Ireland and U105 for organizing such a powerful ‘Seeing is Believing’ event as part of their Responsible Driving and the Fatal Five initiative. The thought-provoking initiative really reinforced the vital role businesses can play in promoting road safety. We’re committed to sharing these important learnings with our employees, families, and communities to help make our roads safer for everyone 🚗
Powerful, emotive, shocking, challenging . . . just some of the words used to describe our Seeing is Believing visit yesterday as part of the Responsible Driving and the Fatal Five project. https://lnkd.in/eZECTQad On our roads: 2024 - 69 people died 2023 - 71 people died 149 mph - the highest speed detected 120,000+ speeding detections in 12 months We brought a delegation of senior business leaders to see first-hand what is happening on our roads in Northern Ireland, how the Police Service of Northern Ireland handles fatalities, heard experiences of those who have been involved in a fatal collision, discovered how drugs are detected, and saw commitments from those attending who pledged to do more personally and within their business to contribute to safer driving, safer roads and safer communities. Women in Construction Week👷🏽♀️ Women are helping shape the future of construction, yet they remain underrepresented - just 15% of the workforce and only 1% in manual trades. As the industry faces a major skills shortage, it's time to champion change and create more opportunities for women. How we can make a difference: ✅ Encourage young women to explore construction careers ✅ Provide mentorship & leadership opportunities ✅ Ensure properly fitting PPE for women ✅ Promote flexible working & family support ✅ Create an inclusive, safe workplace This week, let's celebrate women in construction and commit to making the industry more inclusive. Lighthouse Charity is here to support women with emotional, physical and financial wellbeing. Reach out for free help and support. 💛 As part of our Christmas 2024 Appeal, our Scotland team were delighted to make two donations to the River Kids Charity in West Lothian and the Beatson Cancer Charity in Glasgow. Yesterday, Rachel Esplin and Alla Nekslaw from the Heron Bros Scotland office visited Beatson HQ, where they gave us a tour of their incredible facilities, shared how donations are making an impact, and introduced us to some of the amazing volunteers who dedicate their time to this cause. A huge thank you to both charities for the incredible work they do, and it was a great opportunity to see the real difference these donations make! #heronbros #community #beatsoncancercharity
