🌍 Sustainable September 🌍 We teamed up with Business in the Community Northern Ireland to take part in Sustainable September by opening our own donation point at our Belfast headquarters for 30 days. Our people quickly answered the call for donations and we were delighted to bring a van full of high-quality second hand items to our local Oxfam depot last week. By taking in 40 large bags of donations we have minimised waste going to landfill and helped a local charity to raise much needed funds to support their valuable work. #sustainableseptember #donations #CSR #charity #sustainability #oxfam

🏆 Herring Bridge in Great Yarmouth, which was constructed by BAM UK & Ireland Farrans Construction JV for Norfolk County Council, has taken home a highly commended award at the prestigious British Construction Industry Awards in the Transport Project of the Year category.🏆 The judges said: “Having a significant place-changing impact for Great Yarmouth by removing HGVs from the town centre. This project didn’t just deliver a landmark structure as we were very impressed by the focus on social value, apprenticeships and engagement with young people as well as providing local employment.” The British Construction Industry Awards are run in partnership with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and New Civil Engineer. Farrans was also shortlisted in the Community Impact Initiative of the Year for our social value programme at Gull Wing bridge in Lowestoft. 💛 Hampton House is through to the final of BBC NI House Of The Year 💛 Hampton House in Belfast has become the third property to make the final of BBC NI's House of the Year, following a full restoration and renovation project completed by our Farrans Homes team. The property was built in 1862 and designed by one of the most prolific and talented architects of the time, Thomas Jackson. A former holiday home of CS Lewis, unfortunately Hampton House had fallen into disrepair since being left unoccupied in the 1960s. We took five years to transform the building in a full turn key restoration. We have shared our before and after photos. Elyse Kennedy has taken some incredible images from this property which can be viewed here: https://lnkd.in/egy5WmRV You can also read more about this property here: https://lnkd.in/esBXZwe5 The first five episodes are available to view now on BBC iPlayer with the final both broadcasting and appearing on iPlayer on Monday 28th October. 🤞🏽Our fingers are crossed for the current owners of this exquisite home. 🤞🏽 #restoration #home #houseoftheyear #BBCNI #belfast #construction

📰 Read this fantastic piece from Project Scotland on our Govan-Partick Bridge project for Glasgow City Council Glasgow City Region 📰 “I don’t think I’ve worked on a project where there’s been that much togetherness and collaboration with the client,” David Buchanan, Project Manager, Farrans said. “It’s been faultless and really fulfilling to take a project through like that.” "The relationship between Farrans and the local community was hailed as ‘exceptional’ by judges who handed the firm a Gold Award at the Considerate Constructors Scheme’s (CCS) National Awards in May, with praise also given to the contractor’s ‘excellent’ level of respect for neighbours and ‘strong support’ for local labour, supply chains, and businesses." 🏆 Herring Bridge, which was delivered by BAM Farrans JV for Norfolk County Council, won GB &ROI Construction Project of the Year above £100m at the Construction Employers Federation (CEF) awards last night. 🏆 The bridge is one of Norfolk’s most significant infrastructure projects in recent years and opened in February 2024. One of the features that made this project truly special was that a twin bascule bridge, of such size and scale, is not common in the UK. This bridge has been designed to ensure minimal disruption to highway traffic and river traffic, so it opens and closes within 90 seconds, twenty-plus times per day. The complex project involved in-river marine works and the construction of the approach embankments, which support two underpasses and the bascule bridge. Nearby, the local road network has been upgraded with a five-arm roundabout and dual carriageway. The scheme was delivered in a live and operational marine port. #bridges #bridgebuilders #civilengineering #infrastructure #transport #england #futuresatfarrans BAM UK & Ireland
