✨ Celebrating good people doing great things ✨ Welcome to the second in our spotlight series celebrating the incredible work of everyday heroes spreading ripples of positivity throughout our communities. 🔦 Among the individuals and projects receiving a High Sheriff of Hampshire Community Award last week were Bishop’s Green Community Association’s Megan Winfield and Lucy Davies-Barker. Megan said: “I get to witness, first-hand, the progress that has been made within the community, the relationships that have been formed between families and seeing the difference in the community spirit and knowing that we’ve played a huge part in that. We can provide services that a lot of people in the village would struggle to access otherwise. To be recognised for an award came as a surprise but a very welcome one – I feel immensely proud of our work.” Read the full story: https://buff.ly/8Z8NFRQ

✨ Celebrating good people doing great things ✨ Welcome to the first in our spotlight series celebrating the incredible work of everyday heroes spreading ripples of positivity throughout our communities. 🔦 First up, we have Tony Hill, a voluntary leader for Portsmouth-based abandofbrothers. Tony is pictured below, receiving a High Sheriff of Hampshire Community Award for his work helping to guide young men in Portsmouth away from crime. Tony said: "We work with young men between 18 and 25 who are involved with, or a risk of being involved with the criminal justice system. We provide a safe space for these young men to share experiences, get to understand themselves and what has led them to this point, and then through our rights of passage weekend and quest for community programme, we support them in taking steps to become the men they want to be. I’m extremely humbled to be recognised for this award.” Check out the full story and photo gallery: https://buff.ly/8Z8NFRQ

Young people have been inspired to raise their aspirations through a special programme at Aspire Ryde on the Isle of Wight giving them hands on experience in music production, lyric writing, and performance. Young people had access to a professional standard recording studio and rehearsal space. They came together every week to learn how to produce their own music, then to showcase their productions at other events and venues. Many of the young people involved have been inspired through their involvement with Aspire to pursue further education or careers in the creative arts.
