It was a pleasure to partner with Second Home Studios on Beachcomber! XR has immense potential for therapeutic applications, especially when combining immersive, stunning visuals with mild gamification. In today’s 24-hour, noisy world of notifications and multitasking, we believe virtual reality meditation will be a powerful tool in stress management and enhancing creativity. Can virtual reality unlock our memories? I’m pleased to say I had the privilege of directing this new VR experience to try and find out. Introducing Beachcomber, an immersive VR experience that combines mindfulness, creativity, and self-reflection. Put on the headset and step into a serene, experimental narrative journey which combines lived experiences of the user with virtual talismans. As a Beachcomber you’ll breeze through surreal fantasy landscapes collecting hidden gems that spark memories, inspire new ideas, and help you craft your own personal narrative. The story isn’t just told to you, it’s co-created BY you. Your memories, emotions, and dreams shape a meditative journey (with a small ‘m’) of imagination and transformation. Ready to explore the stories within you? Produced by Ian Ravenscroft of Green Raven, and made in association with Holosphere VR. Music by Ryan Teague. Co-written by Michelle Collier. Beachcomber is our second VR production championed by StoryFutures Academy and funded by the British Film Institute (BFI) Short Form Animation scheme. We’re keen to partner with organisations interested in showcasing or adapting it to help people to engage with their lived experiences in VR. #VR #Immersive #Mindfulness #VirtualReality #memory
