EDITION Hotels has announced George Fleck as Senior Vice President and Global Brand Leader. Christian H. Clerc, an accomplished hospitality industry leader with more than three decades of operations and management experience at some of the most esteemed global luxury hotel brands, has been named President and CEO of Auberge Resorts Collection. The new architectural and interior design of Kartalkaya Kaya Palazzo Lounge, the first tourist accommodation of Kartalkaya Ski Resort whose organic structure was built in the 1980s, was entirely designed by Wangan Studio. Located at an altitude of 2000 metres and created as a wooden structure using steel construction on a fully reinforced concrete structure, the building is also particularly significant because it is Wangan’s first architectural project. CCD / Cheng Chung Design, the design firm with studios in in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Los Angeles, Beijing, Shanghai and Bangkok, has released details of the design for @Shangri-La Nanshan. The theme “Phoenix Roosts in the Parasol Tree” represents the hotel’s exclusivity and nobility. In ancient Chinese mythology, the phoenix is the king of birds, which only chooses the parasol trees to roost, becoming a symbol of nobility. Read more here...

In a recent interview with Hospitality Interiors Magazine, I talked about why I still have so much passion for this industry, despite my career moving into another industry at Bayer. It boils down to this: I truly think real, deep partnerships across different sectors is the way we’re going to get to scale. Gone are the days where one company is going to “win” at sustainability through their efforts alone. It takes partnership. -1.5 degrees is a big audacious challenge no one company can solve on its own. We have to work together to problem solve, create impact and drive scale. And the hospitality industry is in a great position to lead this effort given we’re the world’s largest employer. The green transition can provide economic opportunities for people who are on the front lines of climate change and we can pioneer and test new green technologies in our locations.
