"Just before the Budget, there was a small but remarkable news item. Housing Today reported new figures from the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) showing that in 2023/24 compared with the previous year, England had 696 more social rented homes. Although this is a tiny increase, it’s the first time since 2012 that the number hasn’t fallen." Have we reached the end of the decline of social rented housing? Great post-budget piece from John Perry of Chartered Institute of Housing looking at whether social rent is going to make a comeback in a big way. The government's pledge to have a "particular focus" on the tenure in the next AHP, along with a fall in conversions to affordable rent and reduced Right to Buy discounts, suggests we may be turning the corner. #housing #ukhousing https://lnkd.in/eXU3kcCt
