How the Autumn Budget 2024 Impacts Employers💷 Today’s Autumn Budget brings significant updates for UK employers. The Employment Rights Bill Timeline 📆 Here are some key dates to keep in mind: 📅 21 October 2024: Second reading of the Bill – The parliamentary process begins with a debate on its general principles. 📅 Autumn 2024: Introduction of the Equality (Race and Disability) Bill to strengthen discrimination protections. 📅 2025: Consultations will occur throughout the year to refine reforms with input from businesses, unions, and experts. 📅 April 2025 (likely): Implementation of the genuine living wage requirement. 📅 2026 onwards: Most reforms will take effect, including significant changes to dismissal, wages, and worker protections. 📅 No sooner than Autumn 2026: Unfair dismissal reforms, including a statutory probation period. While these changes may seem significant, there is plenty of time for businesses to assess their current practices, plan accordingly, and put the right strategies in place.
