Train it Chooseday 🚂 🚂 Today at HTC we're promoting Train it Chooseday, an initiative that aims to encourage people to swap their car and hop on the train for at least one of their commutes each week! With our Leeds office being less than five minutes from the train station and more sunny days to come; what better way to spend your commute into the city, than taking in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside? #trainitchooseday #yorkshire #leeds #trainitchooseday2025

Lidl - Kingswood, Hull – Store Opening 📍 Last week the new Lidl GB store at Hull, Kingswood, Connaught Rd opened in the beautiful sunshine! The store boasts a huge 1411 sq m sales area, inclusive toilets with baby-changing stations, a tasty bakery and 126 car parking spaces- with 8 EVC spaces and 5 motorcycle spaces. A big thank you to our HTC Team – Matt Holroyd and Phil Coggan for their hard work on such a challenging project; with the extent of civil engineering and overhead power lines involved. Once again, our considerable thanks go to Stainforth Construction LLP and Dudleys Consulting Engineers for their continued expertise and collaboration. Another great Lidl store for Lidl GB! Onto the next! #storeopening #lidlkingswood #htcarchitects #lidlrealestate

Throwback Thursday from our London Office – Sea Cadets Mitcham 📍 20 Years ago our London Office started working with the Sea Cadets organisation and, as part of a development package with ML Developments, designed a new Sea Cadet Hall, TS Trafalgar, for the combined Mitcham and Wimbledon Sea Cadet Corps. The size of the site meant it was necessary to demolish the existing single storey hall and replace it with a new two storey building. The planners requested a high level of transparency throughout the site and the eventual solution came in the locating of the majority of the accommodation at first floor. The structure sits on columns over a boat storage and minibus parking area. The new design included a main hall (the deck), four classrooms, a bar (the ward room), offices and a command point allowing observation of the activities outside. Because of the Sea Cadet’s nautical traditions, it was thought to be appropriate to give the building a nautical feel- both in the use of materials such as the metal cladding to the hall but also in the borrowing of a ship’s iconography- such as porthole windows and interpreting the wardroom as a prow! #throwbackthursday #HTCLondonoffice #SeaCadetsMitcham

At HTC Architects this week we’re celebrating 2025’s Women in Construction Week! This year’s theme, 'Together We Rise', focuses on the significance of mentorship and working together. Proactive initiatives and institutional support, together with providing access to professional development, is imperative to empowering women to excel in this traditionally male-dominated industry. HTC Architects Associate - Esme Rothwell, summed this sentiment up well - “We’re no longer outsiders, we build, we belong. Our hands shape the skyline, our voices shape the future”. This echoes an important reminder that, despite the world historically not being built for, or by, women; in fostering supportive and inclusive environments, we build towards creating a more equitable industry for the future. An industry that is proud to be designing for everyone, and with everyone involved! #womeninconstructionweek2025 #womeninarchitecture #internationalwomensday #womeninconstruction Women in Architecture UK The Lighthouse Charity Jane Peace Rebecca Tomkins Laura Sherratt Migena S Caroline Robinson Nadia L. Lidl – Huddersfield, Trinity St 📍 A beautiful day for a Site Visit when Matt Holroyd, Phil Coggan and Kyle Haq headed out to the former Kirklees College site on Trinity St, Huddersfield. After being derelict for circa 10 years, HTC, the Principal Contractor - Zenith Developments Group Ltd and WML Consulting are gearing up to a deliver a new Lidl Store. Adapted by using Yorkshire Stone to complement the surrounding local architecture and a non-spec design to accommodate the site. This excellent store will be a much-welcomed addition to the local area, to bolster the supermarket options for residents at the edge of Huddersfield town centre. The HTC Team were on site earlier this month meeting the contractor and consultants at the beginning of the construction phase, working with Lidl to deliver the new store by Summer 2025! #HTCArchitects #LidlGB #FoodRetail #ProgressPost #Architects
