Last week, our Business and Criminology students embarked on an exciting trip to Teesside University, offering them hands-on experiences and valuable industry insights. Business students attended sessions with real business owners who shared their journeys, including challenges they overcame to build successful ventures. They also participated in a workshop on authentic leadership, encouraging them to reflect on leading with integrity in their future careers. Meanwhile, Criminology students put theory into practice in a 'detect a crime' session, where they analysed clues to solve a simulated crime scenario. This interactive experience allowed them to explore the practical applications of criminology theory. Last week, our Electrotechnical students benefitted from a fantastic masterclass from Gemma Hawksley of GW Power-Safe Ltd. Gemma provided insights on using design layouts for estimation, a vital skill that will support our students as they move into their own design assignments after half term. We were excited to host David Danville, owner of Skyline Studio, for an engaging Commercial Dance and Breakdancing Workshop with our HNC/HND Performing Arts students earlier this month. David’s session covered the history and development of commercial dance, as well as valuable insights into running a dance studio and working in the dance industry. Our students also learned about the upcoming NBDA Dance Competition, a highly anticipated event which our HCDA dance team competes in annually. We can’t wait! Yesterday, our School Liaison Officer, Samuel Farniss, joined Head of Building Technologies, Justin, and Apprenticeships Work Related Coach, Laura Anderson, had an incredible time at the Foundations Live event held at Bishop Burton College. It provided a fantastic opportunity to engage with prospective students, discussing the broad range of opportunities available at Hull College, with a focus on preparing for a career in the construction sector.
